CANVASS MEETING
NOVEMBER 13, 2020
11:00 A.M.
Present were; Board Chairman Tony Spears, Secretary Lin Coker, Members: Steve Blackburn,
Betsy McCormick and Jim Currin.
Also Present were; see sign -in sheet
Mr. Spears called the meeting to order at 11:00 am with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.
Business:
Mrs. Jones submitted to the Board the precinct audits, attached hereto. No issues affected any
results from any precinct.
The mandatory random hand -eye count was performed on Monday, November 9, by a bi-
partisan teams. The precincts chosen were One -Stop Lillington and Election Day Johnsonville.
The Johnsonville hand count matched the machine count exactly. The One -Stop Lillington was
off by 2 for Trump, Biden and over votes. It was reported to the State as human error due to
having 3 teams tallying over 10,000 ballots. The hand count took over 8 hours and it is believed

The Board also had a discretionary recount of the One -Stop Western Harnett on November 9.
This was due to the site have numerous machine jams. The Machine count and voter history
were off by 12. After the recount the number was still off by two, but that is explained in the
precinct audits, see attached.
No protests or issues were pending that could delay Canvass.
The Board reviewed the Canvass reports. After some discussion Mr. Currin moved to approve
Canvass. Mrs. McCormick seconded. Approved without dissent.
The Board opened the floor for public comment. Republican Chair, Maggie Sandrock requested
a meeting with the Board to discuss ways to improve the voting process for everyone involved;
voters, party officials, etc. Mrs. McCormick suggested adding that to the December 1" meeting.
All Board members were in agreement.
With no further business to discuss, Mr. Currin moved to adjourn. Mr. Blackburn seconded. The
meeting was adjourned at 11:16 am.
The next meeting of the Board will be a regular meeting on December 1 at 4:00 pm at the
Harnett County Commons Area, located at 309 W. Cornelius Harnett Blvd, Lillington.
