Also present was Ted Halstead, Elections Director. Chairman Massey called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. Business: Mr. Currin moved to approve the minutes from the October 16 meeting. Mrs. Taylor seconded. The motion was approved unanimously. Chairman Massey, Mr. Currin and Mrs. Taylor reviewed and approved the receipt of all absentee ballots to date. Mr. Currin asked about Mr. Halstead's meeting with Representative Lewis. As expected, Rep. Lewis wished to discuss his interest in seeing that election results were reported as rapidly as possible. As requested and as done in previous General Elections, the Board will count and announce the results of all absentee results received on Election Night, and this was communicated to Rep. Lewis. Mr. Halstead reported that all replacement and supplemental ballots including the District Attorney race have been sent to the affected voters. Mr. Halstead suggested that replacement ballots received from voters who had already returned an absentee ballot should have only the District Attorney race counted from their replacement ballot, and the Board agreed. Mr. Halstead proposed that the Board run absentee ballots through the M100 machine at each absentee meeting that had been flattened over the previous week to remove creases preventing machine readability. No ballots would be run through the machine more than once, and any ballot that failed to read without issue would be put aside for hand counting. The Board agreed that this would be a useful step. Chairman Massey, Mr. Currin and Mrs. Taylor opened absentee ballots received to date, and supervised the reading of ballots that had been flattened over the previous week to remove creases preventing readability by the M100 election machine. The next meeting of the Board will be on October 30, 2012, at 5:00 p.m. Chairman Massey moved to adjourn. Mrs. Taylor seconded. The motion was approved unanimously.. The meeting was adjourned at 6:30 p.m. Ap ov by: Walter Massey, Chairman )a7m5"esCurrin, Secretary Louise Taylor, Lember
