CANVASS MEETING MINUTES
June 29, 2010
11:00 A.M.
Present were Chairman Walter Massey and Secretary James Currin and Member Louise Taylor.
Also present was Sherre Toler, Director.
Chairman Massey called the meeting to order at 11:00 A.M.
Minutes:
Mr. Currin moved to approve the minutes of June 22, 2010 at 9:00 a.m., June 22, 2010 at 5:00
p.m. and June 29, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Ms. Taylor seconded. Approved without dissent.
Business:
Ms. Toler advised that the hand -eye recount was completed and everything was correct. Ms.
Toler advised that there were 5 provisional ballots with 3 being valid and 2 being invalid. Mr.
Currin moved to approve the provisional ballots. Ms. Taylor seconded. Approved without
dissent. The Board reviewed and signed the tapes. The canvass report was prepared and signed
by the Board.
Ms. Toler presented the Board with an application for a one -stop HAVA grant for November.
Ms. Taylor moved to approve. Mr. Currin seconded. Approved without dissent.
The Board discussed the problem with the Angier polling place and agreed to send the Mayor
and Town Council a letter rather than attending a meeting in person. Ms. Toler presented the
Board with a draft which was corrected and then signed by the Board. Ms. Toler was directed to
mail the letter.
Ms. Toler discussed a possible resolution from the Board of Commissioners regarding a possible
sales tax referendum for November. After discussion, Ms. Taylor moved to reschedule the
regular board meeting from July 6, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. to July 27, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in order to
discuss the resolution at that time. Mr. Currin seconded. Approved without dissent.
The next meeting of the Board will be July 27, 2010 at 3:00 p.m.
Mr. Currin moved to adjourn. Mr. Massey seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 12:45 p.m.
