Present were Chairman Walter Massey, Secretary James Currin and Member Louise Taylor. Also present was Kim Lambert from the Angier Independent and Sherre Toler, Director. Chairman Massey called the meeting to order at 11:05 a.m. New Business: Ms. Toler presented the Board with five provisional ballots of people who were not registered and ten provisional ballots that are valid. Mr. Currin moved to reject the ballots of those who are not registered and approve the ballots of the other ten. Ms. Taylor seconded. Approved without dissent. Ms. Toler presented the Board with one provisional ballot from a voter whose registration had been denied because the verification and confirmation mailings were returned as undeliverable. The voter utilized the same address on the provisional. After examining the voter's registration records, the Board determined that there may have been a mailing or postal error. Ms. Taylor moved to approve the ballot. Mr. Currin seconded. Approved without dissent. The Board opened the provisional envelopes. Approved ballots were inserted into the voting machine and the tapes run and signed by the Board. The write -in -tally sheet was also prepared. Ms. Toler presented the Board with a precinct -by -precinct account of minor procedural errors that were made on Election Day by each precinct. After discussion, Ms. Taylor moved to direct Ms. Toler to prepare a draft of a letter to be sent to poll workers explaining the mistakes in order that they might learn from them. Mr. Currin seconded. Approved without dissent. The Canvass results were prepared. Ms. Taylor moved to certify the results. Mr. Currin seconded. Approved without dissent. The Board signed the abstracts. The next meeting of the Board will be its regular monthly meeting on December 1, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. Mr. Currin moved to adjourn. Ms. Taylor seconded.
