SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
March 23, 2009
12:00 p.m.
Present were Chairman Walter Massey, Secretary Walt Titchener and Member Louise Taylor.
Also present was Tom Woerner of the Daily Record and Sherre Toler, Director.
New Business
Ms. Toler provided the Board with a copy of the Resolution passed by the Harnett County Board of
Commissioners requesting that a special election be held in Anderson Creek and Barbecue Townships.
Ms. Toler advised the Board that the law requires the election be held within 60 to 120 days of receipt of
the Resolution. Ms. Toler received the Resolution on March 18, 2009. As a result, the election must be held no
early than May 19, 2009 and no later than July 18, 2009. Ms. Toler advised that staff had reviewed the dates and
recommends that the election be held on June 23, 2009.
Ms. Toler also advised that because Anderson Creek Township covered three precincts, all three precincts
would need to be open on Election Day.
The following dates would apply to this special election: Absentee meetings on June 2, June 9, June 16 and
June 23 at 5:00 p.m.; Canvass on June 30, 2009 at 11:00 a.m.; 1't day of one -stop will be June 4; the last day of one -
stop will be June 20, 2009; the last day to register to vote will be May 29, 2009; the 1" day of absentee voting by
mail will be May 4, 2009 and a poll worker training will be held on June 16, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the
Common's Area in Lillington.

Mr. Titchener moved to adjourn. Ms. Taylor seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 12:35 p.m.
