REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
May 8, 2007
3:00 p.m.
Present were William Randall, Chairman, Secretary Roy Tew and Walter Massey,
Member.
Also present was Sherre Toler, Director.
Mr. Randall called the meeting to order at 3:05 p.m.
Minutes:
Mr. Massey moved to approve the minutes of April 10, 2007 and April 24, 2007.
Mr. Tew seconded. Approved without dissent.
New Business:
Ms. Toler reminded the board that poll worker training is scheduled for June 12,
2007 from 6-9 p.m. Ms. Toler also advised that absentee meetings will be held on May
29, 2007 at 5:00 p.m., June 5, 2007 at 5:00 p.m., June 12, 2007 at 5:00 p.m. and June 19,
2007 at 5:00 p.m.
Ms. Toler advised the board that she is still waiting on ballots for the ABC
election. She advised that it is already past time to send out mail -out absentees.
Ms. Toler advised that the side of the building was painted with blue spray paint
with gang type graffiti. The alleged perpetrator has been caught and Ms. Toler submitted
the restitution amount to the Department of Juvenile Justice to cover the cost of
repainting the building.
Ms. Toler advised that despite repeated requests to both the county manager and
Danny Brown, the department head of public buildings, there was still a significant bee
problem out front. She further advised that she had contacted the county attorney in an
effort to have the problem resolved before the beginning of one -stop voting.
Ms. Toler advised that she had applied for a grant for call bells which would be
used for alerting precinct officials to curbside voters.
Ms. Toler updated the board on the ERAPP grant information regarding
purchasing either electronic poll books or using the SOSA (SEIMS) system on laptops.
Ms. Toler advised the board that there would be a demonstration on May 30, 2007 in
Raleigh that board members may attend if they choose to do so.
Mr. Tew announced that he would be leaving the board after the June 19, 2007
election to pursue other interests.
The next meeting of the Board will be May 29, 2007 at 5:00 p.m.
Mr. Tew moved to adjourn. Mr. Massey seconded. The meeting was adjourned
at approximately 3:40 p.m.
