SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
August 21, 2007
3:00 p.m.
Present were Chairman William Randall, and Secretary Walt Titchener. Member
Walter Massey was unable to attend.
Also present was Sherre Toler, Director.
Mr. Randall called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.
Minutes:
Mr. Titchener moved to approve the minutes of July 17, 2007. Mr. Randall
seconded. Approved without dissent.
New Business:
Ms. Toler advised that the petition drive for Angier had submitted enough
signatures to place the ABC referendum on the ballot. They obtained 782 and needed
750 valid signatures. Mr. Titchener moved to set the election date at the same time as the
Angier election. Mr. Randall seconded. Approved without dissent.
Ms. Toler provided the Board with a copy of the Resolution from the Harnett
County Board of Commissioners requesting the Board of Elections hold a tax referendum
election on November 6, 2007. Mr. Titchener moved to set the election date for
November 6, 2007. Mr. Randall seconded. Approved without dissent.
Ms. Toler advised that the State Board had conducted its wellness check of
the office on Monday and that everything appeared to be in order.
Ms. Toler provided the Board with the list of names submitted by the Republican
and Democratic party chairs for poll workers. Mr. Titchener moved to approve the
names submitted. Mr. Randall seconded. Approved without dissent. Ms. Toler advised
that more workers would be needed and the Board directed Ms. Toler to contact others
who might be interested in serving.
Absentee meeting dates for September will be September 18, 2007 at 5:00 p.m.
and September 25, 2007 at 5:00 p.m. The Board agreed to move its regular monthly
meeting from September 11, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. to September 18, 2007 at 5:00 p.m.
Additionally, as there will be an absentee meeting at 5:00 p.m. on October 9, 2007, the
next regularly scheduled monthly meeting, the board agreed to move the regular meeting
to 5:00 p.m. as well.
The Board agreed that for the November electons, poll worker training should be
separate for those doing town elections from those doing only the tax election.
The next meeting of the Board will be September 18, 2007 at 5:00 p.m.
Mr. Titchener moved to adjourn. Mr. Randall seconded. The meeting was
adjourned at 3:45 p.m.
