HomeMy WebLinkAboutHCBOE-October 10 ,2006-Regular MeetingHARNETT COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS REGULAR MEETING MINUTES SEPTEMBER 12, 2006 3:00 p.m. Present were William Randall, Chairman, Secretary Roy Tew and Walter Massey, Member. Also present was Sherre Toler, Director. Mr. Randall called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. Minutes: Mr. Massey moved to approve the minutes of August 13, 2006. Mr. Randall seconded. Approved without dissent. New Business: Ms. Toler advised that she had discussed the Chief Judge vacancies with Mr. Bynum, the Democratic Parry Chairman. Ms. Toler provided the Board members with the Poll worker Training Manual staff had put together. She requested that if they had any changes or corrections that they contact her before the training so that any necessary changes could be made. Ms. Toler gave the Board members a copy of an email she received regarding her request for Spanish speaking interpreters for the voter registration drive in Angier. Staff conducted the voter registration drive at the Crepe Myrtle Festival on September 9, 2006. The Board discussed disposal of the old voting equipment. Ms. Toler advised that she had spoken to the County Manager who recommended we send a letter to the Commissioners requesting they be disposed of. Mr. Tew recommended keeping at least two of the Accu-Vote machines at this time. Mr. Massey moved to request disposal of all equipment except for two Accu-Vote machines. Mr. Tew seconded. Approved without dissent. Poll worker training will be held on October 10, October 12, October 17, October 19 and October 24 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on each date. The Board also had previously voted to move the regular meeting on October 10 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Absentee meeting dates will also be at 5:00 p.m. on the 17th, 241h and 31Stof October. After discussion, the Board agreed that the hand -count of the precincts required by law will be conducted on the 14th of November, with canvass being held on November 17th at 11:00 a.m. Mr. Massey moved to adjourn.
