INTRODUCTION
This report presents information for the proposed water system for the proposed Campbell Ridge
subdivision located on Old Stage Road in Harnett County, North Carolina.
BACKGROUND
At full build‐out the proposed subdivision will consist of 28 single‐family lots with public infrastructure to
support the development
REQUIREMENTS
The water distribution system extensions shall provide water pressures and fire flows at a
standard acceptable value for the applicable zoning requirements
The water distribution system should maintain a minimum residual pressure of 20 psi
Based on the current Harnett County Requirements the fire flow requirement for this project is
500 GPM
METHODOLOGY
Peak Domestic Demand
Peak domestic flows for the project were taken from 15A NCAC 18C .0801. Based on 28 service
connections a peak domestic flow was determined to be approximately 75 GPM. A copy of the chart
used to determine this flow is included as an appendix to this report.
Fire Flow and Peak Domestic Demand in the Water Model
The demand for each fire hydrant node in the water model was set at 500 GPM. The fire flow was set
for only one hydrant at a time. The domestic demand was distributed proportionally to some nodes in
the water model to represent the actual demand in the system during a fire as closely as possible. The
full peak domestic demand was present in the system model as each hydrant was checked for fire flow
capacity.
Calculations
EPANET Version 2.2 was used to calculate the pressures resulting from the required peak domestic flow
and fire flow. The results for this project were calculated in EPANET using the Hazen‐Williams formula.
RESULTS
Based on the results of this analysis, we believe that the Harnett County requirements will be met
for the proposed development. Additional details can be found in the Appendix.
