If the intent in the first sentence is to say that fire protection is hydrants that flow 500 gpm for 2 hours, then no it would not be necessary since subsection A(5) is part of 6.4.1.
If we are trying to say that Fire protection encompasses more than hydrants, then I would leave it in. But as to Article VII, Section 6.2.1, that purely just talks about making connections
to public water if within a certain distance and makes no mention of fire protection or hydrants. What we say or don’t say in 6.4.1 doesn’t seem to matter in my opinion.

Chris…do you think its OK to eliminate “at least 500 gallons of water per minute” even though 500 gallons of water per minute this isn’t specifically listed in
Article VII, Section 6.2.1?

Per my previous comments, I think we can eliminate the “at least 500 gallons of water per minute from the first sentence since we specify the flow in subsection A(6). Also in that first
paragraph, since we eliminated “adequate” from the first sentence, we need to eliminate “adequate in the second sentence where it says “…is afforded adequate fire protection as provided
in this Ordinance.” I’m find with leaving “public” in A(1) but I would make it lower case.

Attached is what we will be taking to the Planning Board & CC’s in March. We want to at least get the ‘duration’ subject reviewed and adequately noted in the UDO. Also, at the CC’s
work session on 3/15, we’ll discuss alternative methods, and possibly take those options in April.

Chris….attached is the revised Text Amendment for gpm & duration.
Also, here is another note from this afternoon’s meeting concerning a few other sections that may need to be amended, word-smithed, etc
· Art VII, add a new Section (6.4.4) to state …any other County Fire Marshal’s Office approved fire protection method must meet at least 500 gallons of water per minute for a
duration of no less than two (2) hours. These other methods would only be applicable to a new development that has no water availability and outside of the distance sections as stated
in Article VII, section 6.2.1. B.
