FINDINGS OF THE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
Having heard the evidence in the following case at their regular meeting on August 9, 2021 the
Harnett County Board of Adjustment makes the following findings of fact:
Special Use
Permit
BOA2107-0002
Douglas Wayne & Mary Elizabeth Mangum.
An Ice Machine in an RA20M Zoning District; Pin # 9575-34-0950.000;
1.09 +/- acres; Johnsonville Township; NC Hwy 24.
The requested use
is is not in harmony with the
surrounding area and compatible
with the surrounding neighborhood
for the following reasons:
Testimony has verified that the
footprint of the proposed equipment
will be minimal. The proposed use
will serve as a benefit to the
surrounding area.

The requested use
will will not materially
endanger the public health and
safety for the following reasons:
Testimony from the applicant has
verified that the site will be kept
clean and desirable. The equipment
selected has a record of being
dependable and having little need
for repairs and/or service.

injure the value of adjoining
property, or alternatively, the

necessity for the following reasons:
The applicant testified that similar
facilities are located several miles
apart and that this location would
provide a needed service to citizens
within the area.

complete a permitting, review and

Ordinance (UDO), Land Use Plan,
and other relevant adopted plans for
the following reasons:
The requested use is an allowed
special use within the district in
which it is located. It is required that
all permits, reviews and inspection
be obtained as well as complete the
commercial site plan process.
