HomeMy WebLinkAboutFM comments2_drainage issuesJay, Chief Thomas just called me back and advised that the area stays very wet and that during previous storms there has been a significant amount of water and road wash out from that swamp. He also stated the beaver dams are rather healthy which cause the back up of water in that area. Not sure how all of this impacts you but wanted to make sure I passed it along. I see it backs up to Gum Swamp but i am not aware of any frequent rescues in that area from flooding. Looking at the Topo map, it looks relatively flat. I have a call into the District Fire chief for that area to gain their input on the last 5-10 year flooding and will let you know just as soon as I hear back from him. A developer has submitted an application to decrease a portion of the Conservation Zoning area on this parcel. The 100 yr floodplain will not be impacted and will be preserved in open space. Before we finalize our staff reports I wanted to check with you guys to see if y’all had any thoughts or concerns, rescues, frequently flooded areas, etc? . Thanks for your help & let me know if any more info is needed, Jay Sikes, CFM Manager of Planning Services Harnett County Development Services 108 E.
