HARNETT COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Minutes of Work Session
February 16, 2007
The Harnett County Board of Commissioners met in special session on Friday, February
16, 2007, in the Commissioners Conference Room, County Administration Building,
102 East Front Street, Lillington, North Carolina.
Members present: Beatrice B. Hill, Vice Chairman
Dan B. Andrews
Gary House
Staff: Neil Emory, County Manager
Jennifer Slusser, Staff Attorney
Kay S. Blanchard, Clerk to the Board
Vice Chairman Hill called the meeting to order, and called on Mr. Emory for an overview
of the agenda.
Jennifer Walker and Lisa Childers, Cooperative Extension, appeared before the Board to
discuss the financial needs of the Family Resource Program as well as Teens As Parents.
The future of both programs will be dependent upon the allocation of additional county
resources. Therefore, Cooperative Extension staff wanted to make the Board award of
these needs prior to the upcoming budget process.
Joseph Jeffries, Mark Locklear and Deen Taylor, Planning Department, and Jennifer
Slusser, Staff Attorney, shared with the Board plans to notify violators of our current
junkyard ordinance. Following a period of time provided for bringing operations into
compliance, staff will then proceed with initiating enforcement action against five of the
most severe cases. The Board discussed this matter and asked that the Board members
absent be notified of these plans prior to notification of those involved.
Several other topics were discussed in a work session format. There being no further
business, the meeting adjourned at 12:30 p.m.
