HomeMy WebLinkAbout101306w HARNETT COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Minutes of Special Meeting (work session) October 13, 2006 The Harnett County Board of Commissioners met in special session on Friday, October 13, 2006, in the Human Resources conference room, 102 East Front Street, Lillington, North Carolina. Members present: Teddy J. Byrd, Chairman Beatrice B. Hill, Vice Chairman Dan B. Andrews Tim McNeill Staff present: Neil Emory, County Manager Wm. A. (Tony) Wilder, Assistant County Manager Kay S. Blanchard, Clerk to the Board Planning Department staff: Joseph Jeffries, Director Mark Locklear Christi Barthelme Samantha Ficzko Department of Social Services staff: Pat Cameron, Director Gerelene Goodman Paul Polinski Chairman Byrd called the meeting to order at 11:30 a.m. Members of the Planning Department staff reviewed a proposed Historic Properties Ordinance. The proposed ordinance will be considered by the Board at a regular meeting. Christi Barthelme reported on two forums that have been held concerning a future Land Use Plan for the Neill’s Creek area. The Department of Social Services asked that $50,000 be designated for programs for the elderly and disabled adults. A program outline will be developed and brought to the Board of Commissioners for consideration. The funding would come from the savings the County experienced due to Medicaid relief provided for by the state. Mr. Wilder noted that it has been requested by firefighters that the former Godwin house on Airport property be used for fire training. Mr. Emory reported on the following items: - bids received for debris management - renovations to the Administration Building and Planning & Inspections building - special project needs of the Board of Education - long leaf pine program - lease for space at former Shawtown school property for the Head Start Program. There being no further business, the work session adjourned at 1:00 p.m.
