HomeMy WebLinkAbout052705w HARNETT COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Special Meeting (work session) May 27, 2005 The Harnett County Board of Commissioners met in special session on Friday, May 27, 2005, in the Human Resources Conference Room, County Administration Building, 102 East Front Street, Lillington, North Carolina. Members present: Beatrice B. Hill, Vice Chairman Dan B. Andrews Walt Titchener Tim McNeill Chairman Teddy J. Byrd was absent. Staff present: Neil Emory, County Manager Wm. A. (Tony) Wilder, Assistant County Manager Kay S. Blanchard, Clerk to the Board Vice Chairman Hill called the meeting to order at 11:30 a.m. and Commissioner McNeill led the invocation. Neil Emory, County Manager, led a discussion on the following items: 1. Mr. Emory noted that Lillington Mayor Grover Smith, asked for a progress report on the sewerline construction project. And Mayor Smith asked if the offer of land from the County to the Town of Lillington to build a new fire station could be revisited. The County has offered property located on McKinney Parkway behind the Courthouse and DSS and Health buildings to the town for the purpose of building a new Lillington Fire Department facility. Mayor Smith asked if the County would consider a gift of property on Highway 401 instead of the location of the original offer. It was the consensus of the Board that the original offer stands. 2. Representatives from special districts (fire and rescue) would like to meet with the Board regarding their proposed budgets and tax rates. 3. The following meetings have been scheduled: Budget work sessions, May 31, June 1,2,3, 2005 Public hearing on proposed budget, June 20, 2005 Special meeting, July 11, 2005 (Regular meetings July 5 & July 18 will be cancelled as well as all work sessions in July ) There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 12:45 p.m. ____________________________________ Beatrice B.
