HomeMy WebLinkAboutTeddy's notes Notes of Teddy J. Byrd, Chairman, Harnett County Board of Commissioners Event Celebrating the Future Home of Harnett Health System Central Campus held on location of the future hospital, Lillington, Wednesday, October 22, 2008 Thanks for letting me make comments today and represent the Board of Commissioners and be a part of this important occasion in the history of Harnett County. - talk about the Board - Neil and Tony Take this opportunity to thank Ken Bryan and his staff for all of their hard work and effort it took to get here. Ken has been on the road with the Harnett Health system slide show of late. His leadership and knowledge of the health care industry is impressive. I want to thank all of the partners who have taken some pretty bold steps that have allowed us to get to this day today. Charge to Harnett Health System Board… I am also proud of the relationship that has been established with Wake Med. Wake Med is a premier provider of health care. That relationship will certainly benefit the people of Harnett County. There are a couple of things that excite me about today: 1st. Harnett Health System - all the “i”s are dotted and the “t”s are crossed and the approval is given and now it is the time to look forward… look forward to a ground breaking look forward to steel rising up out of this good property look forward to cutting the ribbon on a new state of the art facility that will improve health care in Harnett County and make it more accessible to all Harnett County citizens. 2nd thing we are excited about… As we celebrate the hospital, we celebrate the beginning of the Brightwater Science and Technology Park. Think back to the Leake Goforth Study that recommended that Harnett County develop a bio tech park on the 421 corridor that would take advantage of the assets and resources of CCCC and Campbell University with the pharmacy program. We have made no secret about the fact that we will use the hospital as an anchor industry to leverage grants to provide infrastructure not only to the hospital but to the retail, education and manufacturing facilities that will move into the Brightwater Science and Technology Park. So for more than one reason, today is a great day for the people of Harnett County.
