HomeMy WebLinkAboutNO Drakes Landing-RupertGood Morning- The purpose of this email is to address the issue of individuals who are not residents of the affected area of Drake Landing and who do not Pay taxes in Harnett county. My name is Rupert Tart, and I live at 1292 Wheeler Drive, Angier NC 27501- My mailing address is P.O. Box 247 Angier NC 27501. This email is being sent out of my concern that some of the emails in support of Drake Landing are not residents of the neighborhood in question. I do not think that anyone who is not a taxpayer in Harnett County and not a Harnett county resident should be able to have any input into this issue. This conflict impacts neighbors of Drake Landing and only they should have input into this process of affecting the Conditional Use Permit application. I do hope that the board does not allow testimony or emails in order to influence the outcome of the Conditional Use Permit. On that subject, I feel that the conditional use permit application in this case is for the shooting range at Drake Landing. Upon reading all the particulars it seems to me that the applicants in this particular case are using the "shotgun approach" in that they apply for one permit and then add all they can get into it so as to be able to do anything in the future. In my opinion the permitting process in this particular case should be limited only to the shooting range at Drake Landing. In the event that they wish to pursue other activities later, then they should have to request a conditional use permit hearing. I have lived in Neils Creek Farms since 1999 and from the outset I have heard the noise from the Drake Landing. I am not opposed to the business of a firing range, but I do sincerely hope that this permitting request process does not end up with as an open-ended "we can do anything that we want" fiasco. We made a mistake earlier in our efforts to take care of this matter, and I do hope this time to get it straight. The conditional Use Permit is where it should have been in the first place. It has taken many hours of testimony and emails and talking about it amongst ourselves to get us to this point. I hope that we get it right. If Drake Landing is approved in the application for the shooting range, I would hope that we just allow the shooting range and not anything else. The application has many, many different places in which -- explanation on the form which they have provide for you- the areas where the information is not correctly addressed. If I have a turkey shoot I would have to obtain a conditional use permit and I see no reason that Drake Landing be allowed anything other than the shooting range if approved. If they want to have a campground, wedding venue they should have to apply for a Conditional Use Permit for those activities, but not combined with a shooting range. I have much more to say, but felt that this needed to be said before the meeting tonight. If they do not live adjacent to the Drake Landing and/or do not live in Harnett County and pay taxes in Harnett County, they should have no input into this process at this time. Let them "face book" it. Thank You Sincerely Yours, Rupert Tart
