I will try to attend the public hearing set for this Wednesday, but based on work commitments in RTP I may not be able to be there in person, however, I trust you will
consider this email as an acceptable alternative.
My Father in law Bryan and I have been an active customers of Drake Landing rifle &pistol range at Andrews Farm for over 5 years. It was, and continues to be, a great bonding experience
for the both of us. I have met Dan, his wife and know almost all the staff there. This is a quality, family owned and managed facility and is an asset to Harnett county. The people are
friendly, courteous and consider safety as their paramount consideration for all of their shooting sport venues. Drake's represents a legal enterprise that fosters family and individual
shooting sports within a reasonable driving distance for Harnett, Wake and Johnston county residents.
Being originally from Australia it has been a fantastic experience for me to learn about, observe and participate in the peoples ability to exercise their second 2nd amendment rights,
something my mother country no longer allows (and unfortunately, in Australia's case, this has resulted in an increase of violent crime).
Due to my experience at Drakes Landing I have, on more that one occasion, sponsored business colleagues /guests there from as far away as Japan, China, UK and Australia. ALL of them
marveled at the expression of our second amendment rights and had lots of fun trying out rifles and pistols which they can only dream about owning / using at home. Of course, the well
trained Range Safety Officers at Drake's were watchful and supportive.
Obviously, I support Dan Andrew's efforts to keep Drake Landing open to the public and operating an invaluable business in Harnett county (rifle,pistol & shotgun ranges). I am sure the
taxes and salaries paid are of no small benefit as well, also the "flow-on" business that it drives for other entities in the surrounding area, restaurants, sporting stores, general
businesses and local farmers markets to name a few, by increasing the number of new visitors to the area, who then, by word of mouth, entice more visitors.
