HomeMy WebLinkAboutDrakes Landing-NaylorHi,
Please be thoughtful and take the time to read the following information in
detail.
I apologize for any inconvenience but your carbon copy message
has been blocked.
If you were not the sender of the original message, please remove
the email address cited as the "From" prior to any usage.
This is an automated message and any complaints should be addressed
to the original instigator of the inappropriate email direction.
Due to the potential abuse of SPAM and viruses your carbon copied
email has been returned unviewed by the intended recipient.
If you believe your messages must be carbon copied, please contact
the intended recipient personally to place a request for acceptance.
Your intended recipient will need a list of "all" email addresses
that will be contained in your mailing and any changes will need to
be updated as changes to the list are made.
One of the easiest ways to add safety to your mailings is to use
"Blind Carbon Copy - BCC". You may add "your" email address in the
"To:" field if your mail server requires this, see your systems
administrator for further assistance with this. All other addresses
may be placed in the "BCC" field which protects other users from
being cross referenced with many email viruses.
If you are unable to cooperate in this measure of security, then
please remove the email address from your list.
MESSAGE REJECTED BY MAIL SERVER AUTOMATICALLY!
SYSTEM CODE: 14657 CARBON COPY MESSAGE
Please read the following for further information.
CARBON COPY MESSAGES TO THIS ADDRESS ARE AUTOMATICALLY REJECTED.
FYI - Carbon Copy forwarding creates a potential for great amounts
of Spam. This costs the intended recipients an enormous amount of
frustration in trying to sort out junk from business needs. It
frequently leads to the recipient receiving ads concerning illegal
pyramid schemes, explicit pornographic material and many other ads
not sought after by the recipient. This is also a common transport
for destructive computer viruses.
When a message is carbon copied, it sends private mailing addresses
to each and every recipient in the list. If the email is then forwarded
to additional addresses by the recipient, all of the previous addresses
flow with it. Eventually the private addresses end up in the wrong
hands. Spam costs us all in many different ways and is the leading
cause of internet security complaints.
To make some effort in controlling these issues your Carbon Copy message
has been automatically rejected.
If you feel an error has been made, please resend your message to the
intended recipient only or use Blind Carbon Copy in future mailings.
***This service has been setup due to misuse and past security problems.

Subject: Drake Landing
Ms. Lumberg,
Thank you for the information regarding Drake Landing, however I do not
appreciate the fact that you sent an email with my email address to 85
people without blind carbon coping (BCC) it. You as an attorney should be
aware of the problems that this could cause. I would also like to know how
you obtained my personal e-mail address, as the HOA has assured us that they
are kept confidential.
I also do not appreciate the fact that you are trying to stir up the entire
community to assist you in your fight against a well-established business in
our community. A couple of years ago, at a HOA meeting, you were trying to
stir up the community because Drake Landing was unsafe and somebody was
going to get hurt. When that did not work you are now trying to stir up the
community over the noise. Drake Landing is a legitimate business in the
community that provides a valuable service that is much needed in the area.
The reality is that we live in a community that values its right to keep and
bear arms as established in the constitution. People in this community are
going to shoot their weapons somewhere. I would think that we, as a
community, had rather have people shooting at a range, than have them
shooting in areas that are not regulated without a safe back stop. Drake
Landing provides a safe place for people to shoot. They operate a business
that has non-negotiable safety rule, as well as trained Range Safety
Officers that overseeing the activities. Don’t be surprised if you are
successful in your endeavor to have the range shut down that you see and
hear an increase in the gun fire closer to and even within our neighborhood.
As I said before people are going to shoot somewhere.
Also our Sheriff, Larry Rollins, was just quoted as saying that we as a
community need to be prepared to defend ourselves in the event of an
emergency until his officers could get to our homes. If not for the ranges
like Drake Landing people will be shooting and preparing themselves
elsewhere. As police officer for over 22 years I had rather them shoot at a
range than in the fields and woods around out neighborhood. Remember when
seconds count the police are only minutes away.
You stated in your e-mail that there are explosives at Drake Landing. Could
you provide me with more information in reference to these explosives or is
this another attempt to stir up the community. I also think you are
misinformed in another regard. There are several other private gun ranges,
I think the number is 7, with in a two mile radius of Drake Landing. Some
of the shooting, especially on the weekends is actually not originating form
Drake Landing. For instance there is a private range across Purfoy Rd. from
Drake Landing that is unregulated. It is easy to think that the noise you
hear from the private range is originating for Drake Landing when in fact it
is not. Any shooting that you hear that is loud enough that you cannot
enjoy riding on the trails, family gatherings and picnics is coming from a
source other than Drake Landing. Drake Landing is located over one mile
away from the closest point in our neighborhood. Their ranges are not
oriented towards our neighborhood which further reduces the noise that you
can hear. I’m not sure who is not enjoying the park and the trail because
of the noise but they appear to be well used by a lot by someone.
You also may not be aware that Drake Landing has taken steps, on their own,
to reduce the noise level from their ranges. They have installed insulated
shooting boxes at the 50 yard pistol range. These boxes are metal boxes
with foam insulation inside that the shooters have to shoot through. The
handguns are placed inside that boxes and are fired through, reducing the
noise greatly. This was done voluntarily at their expense in an attempt to
reduce the noise level. They have also shut down their 200 yard rifle range
because normally rifles make more noise than handguns. This was also done
voluntarily in an attempt to reduce the noise levels. The Andrews are
attempting to provide a service to the shooting community and balance that
with the concerns of the non-shooters as well.
Also we need to keep in mind the positive economic impact a business like
Drake Landing has on our community. People from as far away as Virginia
regularly come into our community to participate in the activities at Drake
Landing. They are not only spending money at Drake Landing they are also
buying gas, eating at restaurants, and sometimes staying in motels in our
community. Some of these business are already struggling to stay in
business and I’m sure they would be negatively impacted by the closure of
Drake Landing. A rising tide floats all boats.
I guess the bottom line is this. We live in rural Harnett County. There
are going to be the smell of farm animals, tractors on the road when you are
trying to get somewhere, and people shooting guns. If we do not like these
things moving to Cary is always an option. We move out of the cities to be
free from the constraints that the cities put on us, and then we complain
and try to change the things that we don’t like until it’s like living in
the city again.
