HomeMy WebLinkAboutDrakes Landing-KolbeDear Sir / Madame: I write to you in support of Drake Landing's request for Harnett County to issue it a conditional use permit for its sport shooting activities. I shoot sporting clays at Drake Landing several times a month and have been doing so for years. I shoot with friends from Wake, Chatham, Guilford and Moore counties. Additionally, friends from Chesapeake, VA and Wilmington, NC come to shoot with me at Drake Landing once a quarter. Not only do we out-of-county shooters produce revenue for Drake Landing, but we often stop at the Chalybeate Springs mini-mart for gas or snacks, and often go to lunch or dinner in Angier after shooting clays. Simply put, Drake Landing produces revenue for other Harnett County businesses as well as for itself. The sporting clays course at Drake Landing is one of the best I have ever shot, is run safely, and provides an important recreational resource to the citizens of North Carolina and visitors from out of state. I am sure that those people who shoot rifles and pistols at Drake Landing would say same the same thing about the rifle and pistol activities at Drake Landing. It would be a shame to lose this important recreational outlet. Consequently, I sincerely hope that you will grant Drake Landing's request for a conditional use permit. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like any further comments in support of Drake Landing. Peter A.
