HomeMy WebLinkAboutDrakes Landing-Cunningham T I would like to speak for Drake Landing and their staff or family, which ever it may be. They provide a great service to the local community and surrounding area. The continued
urbanization of America makes it more and more difficult for anyone interested in shooting sports to find a safe place to enjoy the sport. Providing a safe venue for shooting sports
is a great service to the community, (you really do not have to think about that long to realize it's value). This is accomplished through the layout of their courses, the emphasis put
on safety by the staff, and limiting the shells that can be used.
I also understand that some question was raised about whether Drake Landing provides any benefit in the realm of tourism for Harnett County. I can not fully answer that question,
but what I can tell you about the last time I was there. There were three people in my party. I live in Knightdale and work in Raleigh, my brother lives in Durham and my brother-in-law
currently lives in Germantown Maryland, but is moving back to North Carolina. We all stopped at a local restaurant for lunch on the way to Drake Landing, and had a great time there.
My sister later told me that her husband really enjoyed it and agreed to go with us the next time.
The first time I went to Drake Landing, I went alone. The last time I went with a group of three.
I also promised my son he could go the next time. So,the next time it will probably be four or five. Beyond that, several of my coworkers often get together for group activities. Drake
Landing is one of the possibilities being considered.
It is my opinion that Drake Landing provides a needed service for the local community and surrounding area. They have a passion for what they do and do it well. I assume the employment
of their staff is dependent upon their continued operation. With so many corporations destroying our local businesses today, it bothers me to think that Drake Landing is having to defend
their opportunity to do business. Why would anyone want to harm a business owned and operated by local people which provides jobs and services for the community. The bottom line is
this, Drake Landing brings money into Harnett County.
Respectfully yours,
Theodore Cunningham
