HomeMy WebLinkAboutDrakes Landing-BaroneHarnett County Board of Adjustments,
I am respectfully writing to you in support of Drake Landing during the upcoming zoning permit hearings. Although I will not be able to attend, I feel strongly enough and thought it
important that I write to you voicing my support for Drake Landing.
I live in Apex, NC (Chatham County) and have been using Drake Landing for the past 6 years. I have used the facilities both personally with my family and for business events with my
company. Throughout the years my family and I have gotten unending enjoyment out of Drake, whether it be shooting, the skeet range, or hunting. As far as business events, we have held
2 there that have, and continue to be, THE most enjoyable and talked-about events with the securities dealers that come down to entertain us from New York City. We would continue to
host these types of events there that bring in 20+ folks at a time.
We live in an era where the trend for entertainment continues to spiral towards non-personal, indoor, and electronic types of events that lack contact with both humans and nature. Drake
Landing is a shining example that defies this trend, and affords users the opportunity to learn to respect nature, properly handle and respect firearms, and enjoy the outdoors with family
and friends in a family-based environment. I have known Dan Andrews and his family for as many years as I have been going there, and I cannot think of a better place to take my children
to spend our precious time together.
I urge the Board to approve the permit and do whatever is necessary to keep Drake Landing operating in the future. The dividends are too great for the county, and there is too much
at stake in the era where quality, family-centered entertainment is vanishing. Please do not listen to the voices of a loud few who do not represent the masses of those happy and satisfied
customers in and out of Harnett County. I encourage you to respond or call me personally to discuss this matter further.
Thank you for your time.
Respectfully,
Mike Barone
