HomeMy WebLinkAbout02011954r298 ,FEBRUARY 1st. 1954. The Board. of County Commissioners of Harnett County met in regular Session on Monday February 1st. 1954•, with all members present. Also present were the _County Attorney and the Clerk to Board. The report of Robert B. Morgan, Clerk Superior Court, was approved and ordered filed. The report of Inez Harrington, Register of Deeds, was approved and ordered filed. The report of D. P. Ray, Tax Collector,.was approved and ordered filed. The report of L. B. McLean, Veteran Service Officer, was approved and ordered filed. The report of B. H. Sellars, Electrical Inspector, was approved and ordered - fiied. Commissioner Worth Lee Byrd moved, seconded by Commissioner B. P. Ingram, that James Graylon Byrd be and he is hereby released of Poll Tax for the year 1952, on account of physical disability. Motion carried'. The Board allowed C. H. Avery the sum of 575.00 for patrolling the School Zone in town of Erwin. Bond in the amount of 510,000.00 for H. D. MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, That Herbert D. THE CONDITION OF THE AFOREGOING OBLIGATION IS SUCH, that WHEREAS, the said Principal was appointed County Auditor for the term beginning on the 2nd day of December, 1953, and ending on the 2nd day of December 1954. NOW, THEREFORE, if the said Principal shall during the term of this bond, well and faithfully` perform all and singular the duties incumbent upon hin'by reason of his election or. appointment to said office, except as hereinafter limited, and honestly account for all moneys coming into his hands, according to law, then this obligation shall be null and void; it is otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue. THIS` BOND is executed by the Surety upon the following express condi- tions, which shall be conditions precedent to the right of recovery here- under; IT IS MUTUALLY UNDERSTOOD AND AGREED BETWEEN ALL PARTIES HERETO, that if the Surety shall so elect, this bond may be cancelled by giving thirty (30) days' notice in writing to the said Obligee and this bond shall be deemed cancelled at the expiration of said thirty (130) days, the said Surety remaining liable for all or any act or acts covered by this bond which may have been committed by the Principal up to the date of such cancellation, under the terms, conditions, and provisions of this bond, and the Surety shall, upon surrender of this bond and its release from all liability thereunder, refund the premium . paid, less a pro rata part thereof, for the time this bond shall have been in force. AND IT IS FURTHER MUTUALLY UNDERSTOOD AND AGREED BETWEEN ALL THE PARTIES HERETO, that the said Surety shall not be liable to said Obligee for any loss resulting to said Obligee by reason of any public moneys being now on general or special deposit or hereafter placed on general 299 1 or special deposit by or on behalf of the said Principal with any bank, depository, depositories, or by reason of the allowance to or acceptance by said Principal of any interest thereon, any Law, Dicision, Statute, or Ordinance to the con- trary notwithstanding. Brawley, Attorney -in -fact (Corp Seal) The Board ordered Series Johnson, Tax Supervisor of Harnett County, to extend the tame for the listing of property for taxation through February 15th. Lpon Motion of Commissioner Ingram, seconded by Commissioner Lasater, it was ordered that one -half of the val_:e assessed on the residence of R. L. Godwin, Jr. be released for the 1952, by reason of the fact that said residence was not completed on January 1st. 1952, but was listed as completed, and fur- ther ordered that his 1952 taxes on said residence be refunded accordingly by reason of such error. The following road petitions were approved and ordered forwarded to the State highway and Public Works Commission, Fayetteville, N. C. (1) That certain road in Averasboro Township, be graded and graveled which runs from Second Baptist Church to Spring Branch road and is known as Neighboorhood road a distance of 1800 ft. (petition given to L. A. Tart) (2) To make a graded road of that certain road in Lillington Township, which runs from about in front of C. M. McDonald's home on the giast side of 15 -A through W. H. Byrd's farm eastwardly by the prison camp wire Pence to Dead End Road at Len J. Stone's house. (petition mailed to C. A. Hasty, Commissioner, Fayetteville, N. C.) (3) To pull up ditch and maintain the road bed of that certain road in Neill's Creek Township known as Hartwell Road a distance of 1/7 miles and described more fully on a map which is attached to this petition, (petition and map mailed to C. A. Hasty, Com.) (4) To maintain th,lt road leading from Mrs. Nannie Lee's farm into Henry Powell's farm and being six - tenths of one mile (petition mailed to C. A. Hasty) (5) To construct that road in Averasboro Township, beginning at a point on the Dunn Fairgrounds Road 30 feet south of the home of Seth Coats and runs in an easterly direction across Ella Reaves Wood's land and continuing east across lands of Mrs. Sudie Owens and continuing along the line dividing the lands of Mrs. Sudie Owens and Claude Young and continuing eastwardly along the line divid- ing W. E. Denning and Mrs. Maude Hodges land to the hard surfaced road known as the Hodges Chapel road and entering this road immediately in front of said church.
