SEPTEMBER 4th. 1956
The Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, September 4th.,
1956 with all members present. Also present were the Auditor, The County :attorney,
and the Clerk to the Board.
The report of Elizabeth F. Matthews, Clerk Superior Court, was approved and
filed.
The report of D. P. Ray, tax Collector, was approved and filed.
khe report of Inez Harrington, Register of Deeds was approved and filed.
The report of Kyle Harrington, Clerk Recorders Court, was approved and filed.
the report of L. B. McLean, Veteran Service Officer, was approved and filed,
The report of Earl dells, Dog Warden, was approved and filed.
Bond it 92- 455153 with Maryland Casualty Company with Davis Jackson Taylor as
principal as Constable in amount of $1000.00 was approved.

Know all Men By these Presents, That Davis Jackson Taylor as principal
(hereinafter called Principal), and the Maryland Casualty Company, a corporation
of tho State of Maryland, having its principal office in the City of Baltimore,
Maryland, as Surety (herein called Surety), are held and firmly hound unto the
State of North Carolina and Barnett County, North Carolina (hereinafter called
Obligee) in the penalty of Cne Thousand and no /100 Dollars
(41,000.00); to the payment whereof, well and truly to be maHe and done, the said
Principal binds himself, his heirs, executors and administrators, andthe said
Surety binds itself, its successors and assigns, jointly and severally, firm-
ly by these presents:
THE CONDITION CF ?HE AFORESOING OBLIGATION IS SUCH, that Whereas, the said
Frincipal was appointed, CONSTABLE for the term beginning on the 10th day of
August, 1956, and ending on the 4th day of December, 1957.
NOW, THEREFORE) if the said Frincipal shall, during the term of this bond,
well and faithfully perform all andsingular the duties incumbent upon him by
reason of his election or appointment to said office, except as hereinafter lim-
ited, and honestly account for all moneys coming into his hand, according to law,
then this obligation shall be null and void; it is otherwise to be and remain in
full force and virtue.
This bond is executed by theSurety upon the following express condition,which
shall be a condition precedent to the right of recovery hereunder;
IT IS MUTUALLY UNDERSTOOD AND AGREED BETWEEN ALL PARTIES HERETO that if the
Surety shall so elect, tnis bond may be cancelled by giving thirty (30) days'
notice in writing to the said Obligee and this bond shall be deemed cancelled at
the expiration of said tnirty '30) days, the said Surety remaining liable for all
or any act or acts covered by t`iis bond, which may have been committed by the
Principal up to the date of such cancellation, under the terms, conditions and pro-
visions of tnis bond, and the Surety shall, upon surrender of this bond and its
release from all liability thereunder, refund the premium paid, less a pro rata
part thereof, for the time this bond shall have been inforce.

THE FOLLOWING ROAD PETITIONS:- WERE APP OVED:
1. To hard surface that road in Barbecue Township, which runs from McDougald
road to Seminole known as Rosser a distance of 4 -9/10 miles (Petiton given to
Mr. Rosser for persentation)
2. To clay and gravel the surface of that road in Barbecue Township which
runs from State maintained road at old Holmes and Sprunt Peach Farm to Union
Methodist Church located on Nursery Hard surfaced road- known as Lindley Nursery
road a distance of 4 -1 /10 miles. (petition given to Mr. Odum for presentation)
3. To grade and maintain that road in Grove Township, which runs from
Highway # 27 to that road from Coats to Bailey Cross road, a distance of 1 -3/10
miles (Petition given to C. B. Dixon for presentation)
The resignation of M. 0. Lee, Judge of Recorders Court was accepted and L. M.
Chaffin was and he is hereby appointed to fill the unexpired term of M. 0. Lee
at a salary set out for Judgeship.
Commissioner B. P.Ingram,moved, seconded by Commissioner Pate that John A.
Smith of Grove Township, be refunded $23.29 on account of double listing of
property in Grove Township.. Motion carried.
The Board approved the selection of D & S R R Station in Erwin as a polling
place and ordered a letter of appreciation sent to R. R. Company for the use of
this building.
Commissioner Ingram moved, seconded by Commissioner
be given.to James A. Yearby, Dunn, N. C., to repair and
County Courthouse at a cost of $567.24, and to repair a
