The meeting was called to order by upon their duties all members of the board led with the cldrk of the Board of County , do solemnly swear that I will faithfully discharge my duties as a member of the Board of Equalization and Review of Harnett County, North Carolina, and that I will not allow my actions as a member of said board to be influenced by a personal or political friendship or obligation. Johnson, Clerk, March 26, 1956 The following townships were given an opportunity to come in before the Equalization Board and be heard: Only taxpayers who had their real estate values affected or disturbed as much as $100, during the year 1955 were entitled to appear before the Equaliztion Board: Buckhorn, Hector's Creek, N ®ill's Creek, Averasboro, Duke and Black liiver. A. B. Godwin, Jr. appeared concerning his new residence on S. Mc Kay Ave. After Mr, Godwin presented his case fully to the Board, the Board decided that the value placed on said property by the County Appraisers be left unchanged. The Board recessed for the second and final-meeting to be held on April 30th. 1956. April 30, 1956 The County Board of Commissioners canvened as a board of Equalization and Review for their second and final meeting for 1956. The following townships were given the privilege of appearing before the Equalization Board:,Grove, Stewart's Creek, Anderson Creek, Lillington, Upper Little River, Barbecue, and Johnsonville., Mrs. Claude R. Cheek appeared concerning herresidence on Morris Dr. After the procedure as to how value was arrived at was explained to her and that said value was in line with similar property, Mrs. Cheek was satisfied with the value that had been placed on said property by the County Appraisers. No change was ordered in value on said property. Louis Bear had written the Tax Supervisor's office prior to this meeting of the Equalization Board concerning an excessive -value placed on an improvement on the Louis Baer Plantation. The board ordered that no change be made in said value,: E. Baer & Sons has asked that warehouse storage located on the Wart of E. Baer &.Son's business located on E. Broad and S. Clinton Ave. be rechecked by the County Appraisers as to an excessive value on said property. After the County Appraisers had made a full investigation of said property, they recommended that the value of W5,&O0.00 be reduced to #2500.00 on above mention- ed property. The Board of Equalization and Review asked that value be reduced as recommended by the County Appraisers.
