Commissioner R. L."Pate moved, seconded by Commissioner J. E. Womble, that
C. R. Ammons be authorized to hire a helper for the State Veternarian at a cost
of 05.00 to f6.00, per day. Motion carried.
THE FOLLOWING ROAD PETITIONS WERE APPROVED
1. To rebuild and sand gravel and place on the N. C. Highway System
in Stewart's Creek Township which runs from Byrd's Mill to Davis Farm, a distance
of 12, miles (Petition given to a Mr. Johnson for presentation)
2. l'o hard surface that road in Averasboro Township; which runs from Highway
# 82 atnt?e intersection north of Averasboro Battle Ground Cemetery known as the
Chicora -Road a: distance of 9/10 miles. (Petition mailed to State Highway Commission
Fayetteville).
Commissioner B. P. Ingram moved, seconded by Commissioner Womble, that $62.00
be paid -to Earl H. .Wells, Dog Warden, from the Dog Fund for a Rabies treatment,
which Mr. Wells suffered. Motion carried,
'Bond No. 4006124, in the" amount of 431000.00 with James Edward Brown as a Deputy
Sheriff, Principal, with the Firemans Fund Indemnity Company was approved -and

Upon motion of Commissioner Pate, seconded by Commissioner Ingram, and the Board
of Commissioners by unanimous vote ordered that•County Electrical Inspector, Roy
Godwin; shall make all electrical instilation inspections in that part of Harnett
County lying on the south and southeast side of N. C. Highway No. 27 and northi
Cape Fear River, and that County Inspector, B. H. Sellars, shall make all such ifi-
spections-in all other sections of Harnett County and that neither is to,.make any
inspections in the others territory except upon written request by the other in-
spector.
Dr. Bruce Blackmon and Mr. Wade Stewart appeared before the Board of Commissioners
and requested that theBoard appoint three qualified individuals as members of the
Buies Creek Rural Fire Protection District Commission. Dr. Blackmon and Mr. Stewart
further advised the Board that the Buies Creek Civic Club - unanimously recommended
Berles Johnson, Joe 011 and Preston Butts for appointment as the members of said
commission.
Thereupon, upon motion of Commissioner Johnson, seconded by Commissioner Womble, t
Board voted unanimously to appoint the said Berles Johnson, Joe Yell and Preston Butt
each being a qualified votetesident in the' Buies Creek Fire Protection District, as
the Buies Creek Fire Protection District Commission, said district commissioners to
serve for a term of two years at the discretion of and under the supervision of the
Harnett County Board of Commissioners.
Commissioner Womble called the Board's attention to the fact that there -was no
duly qualified and acting constable in Anderson Creek Township and that the citizens -
of said township were requesting the Board of Commissioners to appoint some qualified
person to serve as constable in s aid township.

Thereupon, upon motion of Commissioner Womble, seconded by Commissioner
by unanimous vote, the Board appointed Davis Taylor as constable for Anders
Township, to serve until the next election of constables, subject, however,
said Davis Taylor taking the oath and giving the bond required by law prior
tering upon the duties of saidoffice.
The Board recessed to reconvene on August 17th., at 7:30 P. M. in the
Auditor's Office.
