The Board of County Commissioners met in a call session on Wednesday, July
25th., at 7 :30 P. M. With all members present. Also the Clerk, the Auditor, and t
County r.ttorney were present.
Commission Pate moved, seconded by Commissioner Womble, that a water cooler be
installed in the A. S. C. Office. Motion carried.
Commissioner Womble moved, seconded by Commissioner Johnson, that funds be
transferred from 0 A A Fund to A P T D Fund. Motion carried.
Upon motion of Commissioner Johnson, seconded by Commissioner Womble, the Board
voted unanimously to adopt the following budget for the year 1956.57

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSICNERS CF HARNETT COUNTY:
Section 1. The following amounts are hereby appropriated for the operation of
the county government and its subdivisions for the fiscal year beginning July 1,

Section 3. There is hereby levied the following rates of tax on each one
hundred dollars (4100) valuation of taxable property, as listed -for taxes as of
January 1, 1956, for the purpose of raising the revenue from Current Year's
Property Tax, as set forth in the foregoing estimates of revenue, and in order
to finance the foregoing appropriations:

TOTAL COUNTY WIDE LEVY: $1.45
Such rates of tax are based on an estimated total assessed valuation of property
for purposes of taxation as follows: County wide Valu ation- $54,000,000.00,
Special School District Valuation - $15,000,000.00, and Buie's Creek Rural Fire
Department District- $1,650,000.00, and an estimated rate of collections of
ninety per cent (90%).
Section 4. There is hereby levied a poll tax of #2.00 on all male persons
in the county between the ages of 21 and 50, unless exempt as provided by law,
for the purpose of raising the revenue from Current Year's Poll 'Tax, as set forth
in the foregoing estimates of revenue, and in order to finance the foregoing
appropriations. In Wownships.with the Special noad Fund levy, Poll Tax will be
two dollars, (42.00) plus three times the special rates.
Section 5. Copies of this resolution shall be furnished to the county
treasurer and county accountant, to be kept on file by them for their direction
in the disb..rsement of funds.

Upon motion of Commissioner Womble, seconded by Commissioner Johnson, the
following resolution was adopted by unanimous vote:
Whereas, there is a surplus on hand in the funds heretofore raised by Harnett
County for old -age assistance and it is necessary to use a portion of said surplus
to provide funds with which to d efray the county's share of aid to the permanently a
totally disabled for the months of July, August and Septemver, 1956, for the reason
that the county does not now have funds otherwise available with which to defray its
share of the cost of neh aid to the permanently add totally disabled for said perio
and
WHEREAS , it is the opinion of the Board of Commiss
it is advisable and necessary to transfer, as provided
sum of 43,000 from the Old -Age Assistance Fund to the
Totally Disabled Fund, to be used for the purpose here
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Comm
that the.sum of 43,000 be and the same is hereby trans
Assistance Fund surplus to the aid to the Permanently
and the County Auditor 1-s herewith authorized and dire
transfer.
