Also present were the Clerk to the board, the County attorney and the Auditor. The report of D. P. stay, Tax Collector, was approved and filed. The report of Kyle Harrington, Clerk of Recorder's Court was approved and filed. The report of Inez Harrin *,ton, negister of Deeds was approved and filed. The report of Elizabeth F. Matthews, Clerk Superior Court, was approved and filed. The report of L. B. McLean, Veteran Service Officer, was approved and filed. The reports of B. F. Sellers and Roy Godwin, electrical Inspectors, were approved and filed. The report of isarl Wells, Dog Warden, was approved and filed. Uontinuation Bonds ,y 90- 365571 P 0 #- 90- 156897 and ,t 90- 156898 P 0 for D. P. nay, Tax Collector, Alice Patterson, Deputy 'l'ax Collector, and Lola O'Quinn, Clerk to Tax Collector, were approved and filed. Womble, that Ray Thomas be appointed tsst. Dog Warden . Commissioner H. L. Pate moved, seconded by Commissioner Glenn Johnson, that Hubert D.Byrd be appointed Asst. Dog Warden. L. A. Tart, Chairman, broke the tie and voted for Hay Thomas, thereupon Ray Thomas, Johnsonville Township, was appointed Asst. Dog Warden for the salary of 42880.00 annually, travel 4125.00 per month/ The Following road Petitions were approved: (1) 10 sand gravel and drain That road in Grove Township which runs west beginning at Charles Turlington old place a distance of 3/4 miles, a dead end. (Petition given to G. 0. Bennett to present) (2) to hard surface that road in Averasboro township, which runs from old Fair Ground Road to Erwin and Benson and is known as part of Dunn Raleigh Road a distance of 2 miles. (Petition mailed to N. C. State office Fayetteville) Commissioner R. L. Pate moved seconded by Commissioner Glenn Johnson, that the County Officials and 'c;mployees who are now receiving travel expense oe re- quested to keep a daily report of mileage and present this to the Board of Comm - issioners each month. Motion carried. Commissioner Glenn Johnson moved, seconded by Commissioner Pate that the following resolution be adopted. W. s.Taylor, Esq, appeared before the Board and presented on behalf of Chicora Country Club, Inc. and Duncan C. Wilson, the following petition. " TO THE HONORABLE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF HARNETT COUNTY,. GREETINGS: "Whereas, Duncan C. Wilson and others have recently acquired an old tenant house that is located on the old Fayetteville - Raleigh Road in the vicinity of the Chicora Country Club, and, "Whereas, the said road comes to a 14 dead end" just beyond the said - tenant house going South, and, 'Whereas, the said owners of the house in question have recently agent' a considerable sum of money in repairing the same, and are anxious to keep it in first class condition, and, "Whereas, the land .-on both sides of aid Fayetteville- Raleigh Road at this point and for a distance of more -than five hundred yards is owned by the said Duncan C. Wilson andthe Chicora- Cpuntry Club; that is, running northwardly from said house, and, "Whereas, the said parties hereto are anxious to protect their said property from Vandalism which prevails along said road, and in view of, this fact, the said Duncan C. Wilson and others who are interested in protecting their said property, do- hereby petition your said Board for permission to put a gate across- the said old Fayetteville - Raleigh Road approximately one hundred or one hundredand fifty ,yards north of said house, that all of said lands on both sides of the said road are owned by the said Duncan C.
