APRIL 2nd. 1956
The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session at 8 :30 A. M. April
2, 1956, with all members present except H. L. rate. Also present were the County
Attorney, tne Clerk to Board and the County Auditor.
The report of D. P. nay, Tax Collector, was approved and ordered filed.
The report of Elizabeth F. Matthews, Clerk SuperiorCourt, was approved and
ordered filed.
The report of Kyle Harrington, Cle rk Recorders Court was approve and ordered
filed.
The report of Inez Harrington, Register of Deeds, was approved and ordered
filed.
The report of L. B. McLean, Veteran Service Officer, was approved and ordered
filed.
The report of Earl wells, Dog warden, was approved and ordered filed.
Commissioner Womble moved, seconded by Commissioner Johnson, that the ceiling
in tne basement of the Agriculture Building be repaired. Motion carried.
The Following noad Petitions were approved:
(1) To hard surface tnat certain road in Averasboro Township which runs
from Old Fair Ground road to the Old Coats road, a distance of 1 mile
(petition presented to Chas. L. Guy for presentation)
(2) To hard surface tnat road in Upper LittleRiver 'Township which runs
from State Maintained road at A. C. Morrison's home to W. E. Page's
home and known as Morrison noad, a distance of 4/10 miles. (petition given
to w. E. rage for presentation)
(j) ko pull up and place on State system that road in hector's
Creek township wnich runs from Chalybeate Spring's Baptist Grove to Lennie
bmithsfarm known as Lennie Smith road, a distance of 5/10 miles.

(4) To hard surface that road in Black diver Township which runs from
Angier- Benson Road to Angier -Coats Road known as Gardner -Guy Road a
distance of 1 -7/10 miles. ( presented to Henry Strickland for presenta-
tion)
(5) An addition contingent on abandoned section of road in Johnsonville
Townsnip which runs from Junction County Road 1 /10 miles south of High-
way .q b7 to Junction road to Overhill and from a point on County noad
nortn of Aplantic Coastline Railroad southward to Cumberland line a dis-
tance of 1 -3 /10 miles Q petition given to h. N. weaver)
Upon motion of Commissioner Womble, seconded by Commissioner Johnson, the
following resolution was unanimously adopted:
Be it resolved by the board of Commissionersof Harnett County that said Board
does hereby express to Mr. and Mrs. Euliss Douglass, the sincere appreciation
of said Board for the splendid manner in which they have operated the Seminole
Boarding Home and for the outstanding service which they are rendering to Harnett
County in maintaining and operating this home for delinquent chilrren.
