For consideration fully appearing to the Board, and in further consideration of the sum of one dollar paid the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged: It is resolved that a lease forthe term of ninety -nine years be executed by the Chairman and Clerk of this Board to the Raleigh and Southport Railroad Co., for its use and occupation during said period, upon that peice parcel or tract of land, lying being in Lillington TOwnship Harnett County, North Carolina, further descrea ed as follows; Beginning at a point the North East corner of the Methodist Church in the Town of Lillington on rain St. thence N. 89 1/2 W. 379 ft. along the church lot line to a stake on West side of St. thence S. 20 1/2 W. 330 ft. to St. thence ITT. 20 i/e °'. 330 ft. more or less to Salmon and Spears corner; thence N. 20 1/2 E. with Spears line C85 ft. to a stake Spears cor- ner; thence 2. C9 1/2 E. with Spears line 70e ft. rore or less to a stake, West line of rain St. thence C. 20 1/2 W. with Main St. to he beginning; saving and excepting the land occupied by the puLiie streets of the Town of Lillington according to the Kelly plan of said town whether eeid streets be now actually opened up or not. Provided., however, that the foregoing resolution small take effect, only when the said Railroad Company by its duly constituted authorities, shall have executed a paper wrtitg pledging the Board, in consideraticn of the lease in sae resolution provided for, that it will cause to be immediately, or as soon as peecticable permantly located and erected, in Harnett County, at or near Lower Little River, a local passenger and f-eight depot upon its line of railway. It being ascertained that J. A. Stewart had filed the lowest bid on painting the Lillington Co. Bridge the same was a'arded him at Two Hundrecd and Seventy Five Dollars for.two ceats or Two Hundred Dollars for one coat, the snme to be guaranteed for five years. A petition assigned R. Y. Spence, T. B. Lanier and others asking for public road leading from Cokesberry to public road near J. G. Browns, having been duly advertised according to law; was granted and ordered laid out according to law. A petition asking for rublic road to intersect with public road near J. R. Browns and run to public road near R. T. Johesons store wan filed and ordered advertised.. Tres. J. H. Williams filed his monthly report, the same was accepted. J. H. Withers C. S. C. filed presented his monthly report same was ordered filed. Louis Cox having refused to act as overseer of Upper Little River and Barbecue Townships stock law fende, F. Y. P. `cLood was appointed overseer of said fence. Odered that Willie McLean Ccl. be rcliececi of poll tax for the year 1905 and that he be placed c__ roll of permanent releases. Ligon was unamiously elected Ranger for Harnett County, and took oath prescribed by law. Dn heraing a petition signed•by 1/3 of the qualified voters of Lillington Township as pre- scribed by law. Asking for the adoption of the special road law adopted for Harnett County being chapter 630 of the public laws of 1905, and entitled "an act to authorize the Commission- ers of Harnett to work convicts upon the public roads of said County" and that the same be adopted for Lillington Township; and that a special tax of 20 cents on each ';100 worth of property and 60! on each po 11 be levied for the maintenance of said road system. It is hereby ordered that an election be held at the Court House in Lillington on Saturday the 5th day of ray 1x06. At which election shall be submitted to the qualified voters the question of improvement or no improvement and-all electors voting for improvement shall vote a ballot on which is written or printed the words "for improvement" and all voting against shall Moto' a ballot on which is written or printed the words "against Improvement" as prescribed by the above mentioned chapter. And that W. F. Hockady be :nd he is hereby appointed registrar, and F. P. Johnson and W. F. Marsh Sr. be appointed Judges of election for said township and that same be advertised ^ccordtng to law.
