Board County Commissioners met,present,
G.K.Grantham,J.A.Smith and T.A.Harringttn.
J.E.Lanier Shff. rresented his monthly report same wan accepted and ordered filed.
J.I_.Willi.ams Treas.presented his monthly report,same was accepted and ordered filed.
C.F.Pope Ex Shff. presented his monthly report,s ^.me was accepted and ordered filed.
Charlie McGee having resigned as Constable of Duke Township,L.H.McGee was unanimously
elected to fill his unexpired term.L.H.McGee presented his official bond in the sum
of $500.with J.A.Williams of Black River Township as surety.Said bond was accepted by
the following vote; those voting aye : Grantham,Smithand Harrington -those voting no
none,said McGee,qualified according to law before G.K.Grantham ohm. and was duly
inducted into office.
The Board desiring to elect a sanitary Committee or Board of Health,the Board in
accordance with provisions of the law ,requested the Mayor of the town of Lillington
to name one member of said committee or board and he na.medDr.L.J.Arnold. The Chairman
of the Board of Commissioners then named Dr.J.F.McKay as another member of said Committee o
or Board of Health.It is therefore ordered by this Board that the members of the Board
of Commissioners,LJ.Arnold and J.F.}cKay be and the same are hereby constituted the
Sanitary committee or Board of Health for Harnett County.
Petition, asking for the establishment of a public road from a point near Den Adars
to Angier,over the lands of Andrew Parrish and others, having been granted; said road
is ordered laid out according to law and the cost of same be paid by petitioners.
Be it resolved by the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County that it is the desire
of the Board of Commissioners of said County and,an they believe,the desire of90
of the Citizens of said County,th.at the Community now called Duke be in corporated
under the name of Duke.And our representatives in the General Assembly are hereby
requested to do all in their power to incorporate said Town of Duke.
C.M.Muse,Attormey for this Board is hereby ordered and empowered to take such action
as may be necessary in the matter of effecting the legislation herein mentioned.
Ordered that Allen IF.Shaw,be and he is hereby unanimously elected Entry Taker for
Harnett County for a term of Two years from Jany.lst 1907.
Ordered that Dr.J.W.Halford be Authorized to buy postal cards for Physicians report
to County health officer.
Ordered that G.K.Grantham,confer with Cumberland County Commissioners regarding the
building of a bridge on Lower Little Rider.
Ordered that H.C.Stewart,irmmediately prepare an itemized Staterert,certified under s
seal of the expence of the sm all pox situation in Duke from the beginning to this time
and furnish same to C.M.Muse.
Ordered that Jacob } :cLean col. of Stewarts Creek Township be released of poll tax.
Ordered that J.A.Kelly be relieved of ?`4.93 taxes on property in Barbecue Township.
Ordered that W.M.Bryan be relieved of $2'33 double tax in U.L.R.Ts.
Ordered that L.M.Ryals be relieved 1.80 Special School tax in Averasboro Ts.
Ordered that W.H.Collins be relieved of '.90 Special School tax in B.R.Ts.
Ordered that C.J.Spears Est.Be relieved 111.50 double tax in Neills Creek Ts.
Ordered that Daniel Cxendine be relieved. of 62d tax one76 property inLillington Ts.
Ordered that R.K.Norris,be relieved of poll tax in Duke Township.
Ordered that Chloe McDougald col. be put on out side poor list at t1. per month.
Ordered that Flora Ann Hare,be put on out side poor list at $2.per month.
