Monday March 2nd. 1908.
Board County Commissioners met,present,
G.K.Grantham,T.A. Harrington ,D.P.McDonald,W.H.Turlington and J.A.Smith.
J.H.Villiams Treas.presented his official report same was accepted and ordered filed.
H.A.Williams and others,commissioners to lay out public road from a point in an old road
near Dan Adams to Angier,made their report,same was accepted and ordered filed.
Upon ?filing petition signed by J.A.Williams and others asking for the establishment of
a public road from a point on the McAlister road,midway between the residence of B.F.Dupree
and H.R.Dewar, to a point,in the public road,leading to Angier, just east,of residence, of
L.H.Williams,said petition ordered advertised according to law.
Ordered that Troy Hilliard be appointed fence commissioner for the western portion from
Neill! Creek of Stock law territory recently adopted for a portion of Hectors Creek and
Black River Townships; and that J.R.Adams be appointed commissioner for the Eastern
portion of said Stock law.terribory:That it shall be the duty of said fence commission
to make a return to the Board of Commissioners,of the lands and the owners of same,
embraced within said territory. The Said fence Commissioners shall have full power and ee a
authority as to general supervision of making,altering and repairing the fence and of makigg
all necessary contracts for the repair of said fence. The clerk of the Board is hereby d
directed to certify to each of said commissioners,Notice of the aforesaid appointment.
Whereas the firm of-John Nuveen & Co. who have been heretofore declared the successful
bidders for the $40000.00 issue of Harnett County Bonds,hn.ve failed to make the deposit:
in accordance with the requirements of said bid;and whereas,said John Nuveen& Co. have
failed to take said bonds 'n accordance with their bid for same:Nom therefore :it is ordered
that all negotiations for the sale of said bonds to said John Nuveen & Co. cease;
And it ti further ordered that the bid made by them be not accepted and that the same be
canceled.
Whereas the Board of Commissioners after due advertisement have received a bid of $36365.00
& accrued interest for :36000.00 of Harnett County bonds,as authorized by the laws of1907,
which bid was made by weil,Roth & Co.of Cincinnati: And whereas said Company has complied
with the requirements by depositing the sum of $500.00;
Now therefore it is ordered that the bid aboved mentioned he, and the same is hereby,
accepted,and G.K.Grantham and C.M.Yuse,the committee appointed by this board are hereby
ordered and directed to take such action as may be necessary for the delivery of the
bonds hereinbefore mentioned and the collection of the money therefor.
Upon motion of J.A.Smith,seconded by W.H.Turlington,the above resolutions were adopted by
the following vote,thoae voting for , Grantham ,Smith,Harrington,McDonald and Turlington.
those voting against none.
The matter of the dumping of sawdust into Buiee creek was referred to the plaintiff
and defendants for settlement of same.
Upon hearing netition signed by1 /3'of ^the qualified-votett of:Stewarte'"Creek'townShip aer
$ireedribtdnby law;asking for the adoption of the special road law adopted for Harnett
County being chapter 830 of the public laws of 1905,and entitled "an act to authorize
the Commissioners of Harnett County to work Convicts upon the public roads of said County
and that the same be adopted for Stewarts Creek Township;and that a special tax of cents
on each '100. worth of property and cents on each roll be levied for the ^aintenance
of said road system. It is hereby ordered that an election be held in said township with
the prohibition election on the 26th. day of may 1908;at which election shall be submitted
to the qualified voters the question of improvement or no improvement and all electors voting
for improvement shall vote a ballot on which is written or printed the words "for improvemtt"
and all voting against shall vote a ballot on which is written or printed the words "against
improvement" as prescribed by the above mentioned chapter
Ordered that J.A.Honeycutt be allowed to sell patent medicine without the payment of
license tax.
Ordered that Geo.Stewart he releived of 219! tax in Neills creek township,same having been
improperly listed.
Ordered that .M.W.Dean a resident of Wake Co.be releaved of poll tax in Hectors Crek Townsbp.
Ordered that A.H:Stewert be permanently released of poll taxM
Ordered that P.J.Jeffreys be releived of *8.5F special School tax in Averasboro Ts.

Ordered that M.W.Morgan be allowed A77.50 for keeping County Home 1 month.
Ordered that M.R.Morgan be allowed 128.74 for hauling logs and lumber for County Home.
Ordered that G.W.Fuquay be allowed A18.for keeping Worthington ferrynoiih.month.
Ordered that D.H.& A.M.McLean be allowed .$21.56 for sawing lumber for County Home.
Ordered that Dr.J.W.IIalford be allowed $24, for service as aunt. of health.
Ordered that H.C.Stewart P.A. be allowed $71.10 for purchase as per bills rendered.
Ordered that H.C.Stewart be allowed $8.75 for service as clerk.
