HomeMy WebLinkAbout01041909Monday January 4th. 1909. Board County Commissioners met,present, R.G. Taylor ,T.A.Harrington,J.A.Smith, D.P.McDonald and W.H.Turlington. J.H.Williams,Teas. presented his official report same was ordered filed. Dr.J.W.Halford Supt.Health,presented his monthly report.eame was ordered filed. W.H.Coate having been elected Constable of Grove Township tendered his official bond in the sum of $1000.with Calvin lucas as surety,said bond was accepted by the following vote,those voting for, Taylor ,Harrington,Smith,MCDonald and Tdrlington,th.ose voting against none; said Coats took and subscribed to the official oaths before F.li.Taylor C.Z.C. and was duly inducted into office. Ordered that Ie'essers D.P.McDonald,W.H.Turlington and J.A.Smith,be appointed a committee to look after County Home with authority to make such disposition of same as they may deem necessary. J.L.Smith tendered his resignation as fence overseer in Stewartr Creek Stock Law territory it is ordered that same be accepted and that I.W.Smith be and he is hereby appointed overseer for said territory. Whereas under the Contract made by the Carolina Engineering Co. with the County for the erection of two bridges across the Cape Fear River,the County ray become indebted to said Company for the initial payment under said contract tc wit: in the sum of e15000. and whereas it is contemplatd thet said initial payment may become duebefore the Boar of County Commissioners may be able to realize upon abond issue which it contemplates for the purpose of paying the contract price fort erection of said bridges and whreas said Board Considers the erection of said bridges necessary expenses of the County now therefore be it resolved by the Board of Commissioners of Said County of Harriett that for the purpose of paying of said initisl ekyF;ntunder said contract when due the Chairman of the Board is authorizedto negotiate a tempoary loan of not more than x'15000. and to execute. therefor a note or notes of the county payable at such time as he may deem proper not later than 3 months after date bee.�j,�,rngg..inter�� st at not a greater rate than 6% per annum said notes to be executed by the ChairmhnT'�attested by its Clerk. Orderedthat the Fence Commissioners of the Stock law territory embracing Hectors Creek Buckhorn and portions of Black River and Neills Creek Townships be and they are hereby authorized to bornw not exceeding $400. to execute the note or notes 6rr*a►.id Gcmmieeioners therefor and to pledge the resourses under the controll of said Board,consisting of the fence tax assesments for said territory as well as any other resourses as security for the pa.ymene of such loans to be used exclusively for completing and repairing the fence of said territory. Ordered that the Pond of the Treasurer be reduced to .x"20,000. provided the same be given in a good surety Company, ordered further that said treasurer be allowed to file said bond with the Chairmar_ of the Board,and that he have 10 days further in which to file said bond. J.F.Arnold having been elected Constable for Buckhorn Township,tendered his official bond in the sum of t500. with A.L.Baucom as surety said bond was accepted by the following vote those voting for .
