The Comissioner adopted the folowing resolution, Whereas this board has heard with profound sorrow of the death on yesterday of Hon, John A. Green who for many years sedved the people of Harnett county in various Official Capacities, including those of Sheriff, Representative in the General Assembly and Chairman of this Board: and Whereas we desire to wxpress our sorrow on account of the loss of this dintinguished citizen of the county; Therefore be it resolved by the Board of County Comissioners of Harnett County That in the death of Hon John A.Grenn, the county has loosed an honored and useful citizen, and the tEwn of Lillington ,one of its most pratriotic residents.That we extent to his bereaved Family our most sincere sympathy, That this board do now adjourn out of respect 66 the memory of our fellow citizen to reassemble at 12 J,clock Noon. It appearing to the board that the CAROLINA CEMENT CO., claims a lien on the Duke Bridge in the sum of 050.00, and that H.V. Moulton ,claims a lein on the same for 1111.10 payable out of any sum due E.A. Kline it is ordered by the board that notice issue to the Carolina Engineering Co., to show cause if any it has why said claims shall not be discharged by the board of comissioners and the same charged to the balance due,on account of theconstruotion of said bridge, and held in trust by the county pending a settlement between said Enginoeriiw Co .,,A. Kline. On motion of r Y.H. Turlington and seconded by Yr D.P. McDonald mr Willie Hockady a triple was allowed to peddle without license. By order of the Cgmtipsioners R.W. Kinlaw mgr for J.D. Upchurchs farn located on the Angier Road about smiles from Lillington was designated as an experimental farm in accordance with the plans of the agricultural department The insurance Policy tendered by Mr Gooch was not accepted.. The report of J.B. Lanier Sheriff was read and accepted. The Report of J.H. t:'illiams was red accepted and ordered/ recorded. The election for special school district for whites #2 Grove Township was ordered.as folows *2 viz: Beginning at Black river and running North with the Township line to the County line, thence with said county line to the head of a branch about one hundred(100) yards from Benj Dixons.residence, thence with said branch to Black River, thence up said river to the =dashingto Denning ford. Then leaving said river and running in a. westerly direotion with a path running by N.A. Barnes residence to the Barne's grave yard thence in anorthorly direction to the mouth of what is best known as Woolards branch; thence up Black . river to the beginning. Williams was read and accepted and ordered filed and recorded The county script in the hands of the treasurer was examined and cancelled and also the Bond coupons. Tt ordered that the treasurer be authorized to pay county orderd out of the special funds now in his hands the same to be paid back to the funds with interest when a suffient sum shall come into his hands belonging to the general funds to reemburse said special funds. On motion of J.A. Smith the Insurance policy of Jno W. Gooch was reconsidered. order And by $3tiaof the board the policy of Jno W. Gooch ,J.N. Fuquay and H.T. Spears was refused and the clerk of the board was appointed 7tX-to-see that the Court house and Jail were properly insured. The public road petition of Averasboro Township was left over for one month. The followinf report of jury appointed to lay off public road in Black River and Neils creek Townships was -aooepted as follows : - I, J.W. Flowers , Constable of Black River Township , in obedience to an order directed to me by the County Comi©sioners, have summoned a jury of three good and lawful men to -wit G.S. Day J.T. Nordan and D.E. Nordan to view the grounds lay out and mark a public road loading from Angier to Pleasant Union ,over the lands of A.D. Johnson Joe Long, and others as in the petition described whereupon said jury met on the 9th day of March 1910 and after being dul$ sworn according to law, proceeded to lay off and mark said road as ordered the damage assessed in favor of the parties over whose land the road runs are as follows: no damage to anybody.
