WHEREFORE, it is consideraed , adjudged and hereby declared that the proposed bond issue received
the approval of a majority of the qualified voters of sr,id Toivrshipii and the i;oad Commissioners
hereinafter to be appointed for said Township are declared to authorized and empow =red to issue
in the name of Duke Township bonds in the sum of Thirty Thousand Dollars to run twenty years from
date, and bear interest at the rate of six per cent per anntun, and the said bonds and interest are
declared to be a valid lien upon the property of said Township, =tnd thiF Board obligates itself
and its successors in office to levy and cause to be collected in said, Duke Township sufficient
tax to pay the interest on said bonds and provide for a sinkinr fund for payment of principal
thereof when due.
Upon motion of Commissioner R.T. Johnson, seconded by Commissioner, D.P. Ray, the above
resolution was adopted and ordered spread upon the minutes; those voting in the affirmative being,

J.C. Byrd,R.T. Johnson, D.P. Ray, W. J. Tic Stewart, also Chas. Ross, Attorney
Ordered that Tobie Masaey be put on the pauper list at $5.00 per month.
PETITION FOR A SPECIAL TAX ELECTION.
WFt, the undersigns# freeholders in the bounty of Harnett constituting one- fourth of the
free holders in the proposed special school - district included within the following.boundaries,
to -wit: *eill's Creek- 2, White.
Beginning Lip the bridge on Middle prong Creek between L. L. Britt and Jas. A.Betts and
runs down said creek to the old Sexton Mill site and thence as the old ridge road west across
the Burt,Tand to the ford on Busejs Creek between Tex Johnson and Duncan Sexton; thence down
Buie's Cleek to Cape Fear River; thence up Cape ear River to the Mouth of Dry Creek;thenee up
dry creek to the Kipling Road; then as said road going East out by the old Reubin Matthews MT11
to the beginning, respectfully petition your Honorable Board for and election to ascertain the
will of the people within the sjmcfal proposed special school district,whether there shall be
levied in said distrhot a special annual tax of not more than 30 cents on the One Hundred Dollars
valuation of property; and 90 cents onthe poll, to supplement the Special School Fund, which may
be apportioned to sc6id district by the County Board of Education in case such special tax is
voted.
