wit: Beginning at the „unth of Upper Little River; thence up Cape Fear to McAliaterge dam;
thence with the old McAlister Road to Upper Little Is, ver between Neal Parker and E.B. Reid; thence
down Little River to the beg.inning,kxg1xxtxg being Schoold District Ho. 2, white, Lillington
Township, Harnett County.
The purpose of this ppopeaid special tax levy is to build an additional school Room and

To the State Highway Commission at Raleigh, N. C.
Sire; The County of Harnett having by its Board of Commissioners on the 7th. day of June,
assented to the acts of Congress, approved July, 11th. 1916, entitled, "An Act to provide that
the United States shall aid the States in construction of rural post Roads, and for other pur-
poses" does hereby, pursuant to the provisions of said Act, and to the rules and regulations
of the Secretary of Agrioulture, and according to the Laws of the State of North Carolina and
the rulesand regulations of the State Highway Commission.
Do herewith make application for State and Federal Aid for the eonstruetionfof the follow*
ing projects; The projects named are to be part of the State Highway System,, as agreed upon
by this and the adjacent Countils, or as fixed by the State Highway Commission. The projects
are named in the order in which the County prefers to have them constructed:
Beginning at Cumberland- N.a.rnettline, ending at Johnson - Harnett line, being part of the Wash-
ington- Atlanta Highway.

Resolved by the Board of County Commissioners of Harnett County, that the Chairman and Clerk
be authorized to execute and application to the State Highway Commission in substantially the
following foreµ: All costs of said Highway to be charged to Ateraeboro Township,to -wit:

The Board of County Commissioners of Harnett County at a legal meeting held in Lillington
on June 7th. 1920, passed the following order, and the clerk to the Boardxzf was directed to
enter same on the minutes of the Board.
pprdered that this Board hereby agrees that the State highway Commission construct, aoeor-
ding to the State and Federal Laws and the regulations (f the Secretary of Agriculture of the
United States and th& regulations of the State Highway Commission,the section of Drojeot No
68, beginning at Sampson County line, via, best route and ending at Dunn, a distance of ap-
pPoximately 4 miles.
Tnis is the same road on which the Board of 6/19/19 requested the State Highway Commision
to grant aid.
This Board will make available on demand,, for the use of the State Highway Commission in
constructing this Road, such funds as may be required not to exceed one - fourth of the east of
the Road as shown by the estimate prepared for the project agreement, or such modifications
of the project agreement, as may be made between the State Highway Commission and the Federal
Government.

DUKE' TOWNSHIP ROAD BOND ELECTION.
The report of Carl E Fitchett, Registrar, and A. F. Fowler and W. F. Blake, Judges of Election,
heretofore appointed to hold an electio, in Duke Township for the purpose of submitting to the
qualified voters of said Township the question of issuing bonds i n the aura of Thirty Thous-
and Dollars for improvementx of the Roads of said Township in accordance with provisions of
Chapter 427 of the Public lgoal laws of 1913, and amendments thereto, having been filed with this
Board at call meeting on May 15th. 1919 and continued for consideration until this day, upon
consideration of said report, this Board in its capacity as a canvassing Board finds the following
facts, to -wit:
(1) T "at said election was dulilcalled and advertised as provided by law and in accordance
with the ,,retious orders of thic :_.card.
(2) i'h<tt said election was held on T,iay 16th. 1u20, and in all i respects crr�ducten as by law
provided.
(3) That the total - number of qualified voters in said Townshi.x. on the drx: of sa :u election

WHEREFORE, it is consideraed , adjudged and hereby declared that the proposed bond issue received
the approval of a majority of the qualified voters of sr,id Toivrshipii and the i;oad Commissioners
hereinafter to be appointed for said Township are declared to authorized and empow =red to issue
in the name of Duke Township bonds in the sum of Thirty Thousand Dollars to run twenty years from
date, and bear interest at the rate of six per cent per anntun, and the said bonds and interest are
declared to be a valid lien upon the property of said Township, =tnd thiF Board obligates itself
and its successors in office to levy and cause to be collected in said, Duke Township sufficient
tax to pay the interest on said bonds and provide for a sinkinr fund for payment of principal
thereof when due.
Upon motion of Commissioner R.T. Johnson, seconded by Commissioner, D.P. Ray, the above
resolution was adopted and ordered spread upon the minutes; those voting in the affirmative being,

PETITION FOR A SPECIAL TAX ELECTION.
WFt, the undersigns# freeholders in the bounty of Harnett constituting one- fourth of the
free holders in the proposed special school - district included within the following.boundaries,
to -wit: *eill's Creek- 2, White.
Beginning Lip the bridge on Middle prong Creek between L. L. Britt and Jas. A.Betts and
runs down said creek to the old Sexton Mill site and thence as the old ridge road west across
the Burt,Tand to the ford on Busejs Creek between Tex Johnson and Duncan Sexton; thence down
Buie's Cleek to Cape Fear River; thence up Cape ear River to the Mouth of Dry Creek;thenee up
dry creek to the Kipling Road; then as said road going East out by the old Reubin Matthews MT11
to the beginning, respectfully petition your Honorable Board for and election to ascertain the
will of the people within the sjmcfal proposed special school district,whether there shall be
levied in said distrhot a special annual tax of not more than 30 cents on the One Hundred Dollars
valuation of property; and 90 cents onthe poll, to supplement the Special School Fund, which may
be apportioned to sc6id district by the County Board of Education in case such special tax is
voted.
