The County Commissioners met in regular session, present J.D. Barnes, chairman, R.T. Johnson,
J.C. Byrd, W.J. mCStewast, D.P. Ray, and Chas. Ross, Attorney. Minutes read and approved.
J.L. Johnsen having filed his resignation of Black River Road Commission the same was acoeepted
and A.B. Currin was reeommendtd and appointed.
Ordered that the chairman and clerk of the board be directed to execute to M.R. Morgan deed
for 88/100 of an acre of land to be out off of the western side of County Home land, price $75.00
an acre, in order to straighten the line between M.R. Morgan and the County Home.
Ordered that J.D. Phillips be released $800.00 listed by him in Duke township.
Ordered that Robert Keen be put back on pauper list for $8.00.per quarter beginning Feb.
1920.
Ordered that order be issued to D.H. McLean for $75.00 and
uolding court as Vice Recorder Oct. 19, 1919.

Upon recommendation of Auditor and County Attorney it was ordered that Register of Deeds
.,e allowed Forty Dollars ( #40.00) per month from Dec. let, 1919, until further orders, on account
of additional clerical force required for additional work now being done, to be charged against
the additional allowance provided in salary bill.
Ordered that Arthur Cummings be allowed $50.00 per month for keeping Northington Ferry.
Also allow Arthur Cummings $39.00 for Keeping Ferry January-in place of J.D. Womble.
It was ordered that A.M. Shaw, Auditor, make order for tax listing machine through Mr.
Duokett.
Ordered that Mrs. -B. Gilbert be allowed $5.00 on account of pauper.
Ordered that the appointment of Health Officer be left to mine committee, Dr. Holt of Duke
and J.C. Byrd.
Ordered that Auditor A.M. Shaw make correction in J.G. Layton's taxes for Grove township
listed by error.
Ordered that auditor make same correction in J.P. Stephens taxes in Grove township.
Ordered that M.C.•Upehureh be appointed Welfare Officer, the salary to-be fixed by R.T.
Johnson and B.P. Gentry.

Petition for Local Tax Election
We, the undersigned citizens and free holders residing in Grove township school
district #5, respectfully request that we be granted the .privilege of voting a local tax not
exceeding 8 cents on the $100.00 valuatia of property and 90 cents on the poll, the same to
be used fu school purposes in our district. The boundaries are as follows: Beginning at
Fewlers mill and runs due West to Cape Fear River, crossing the River Read at a ditdh bridge
below D.A. Stephenson'a; thence up Cape Fear River to Thornton's Creek; thence up the creek
to the Dunn - Lillington Road; thence as said road to Hdges Branch; thence as the branch to the
J.D. Avery ford; thence, as road leading by J.B. Parker's to Raleigh- Fayetteville Road; thence
as said to the bginning.
