To His Honor,' G. E. i:_idy6t6e, Judge Presiding:
We, The Grand Jury for the Lay ter,, 1924 of Harnett s=uperior Court, respectfully
make yhe following report to your honor.
1. We have inquired into all bills brought to us and have made returns accordingly.
2. We have inspected all the offices in the Courthouse and find them in fair condition.
3. We have inspected the jail anf find same in fair condition and kept as well as pos
sible under present conditions. The prisoners in the jail stated they were comfortable
have enough food and warm clothing.
4. Vie have '_nspected the County Home and find same under repairs and in fair condition.
5. We have made a very careful inspection of the Convict 'amp and find many compla_nts
ai:iong the cunvixts as to treatment; some being whipped unmer.:ifully and abused severely,
that "uperintendant and Guards use whiskey freely and we the Gr[.nt Judy find carpp in
unsanitary condition. We recommend a change of management at once, also that the camp be
put in sanitary condition. We the Grand Jury further recommend that a disinterested com-
u:ittee be appo: ted tp inspect same once or $wice each - .onth.
We also want to thank His Honor for the kindness shpwn our body also the Solicitor.

We the unde'rsiC;ned citinens and residents of Air Castle Schocl District No One, Barbe-
cue Township, Harnett County, and who have been a resident of said district for at least
twelve months -prior to June let. 1924, most respectfully petition your hono. able board
to authorize and permit the Citizens of Air Castle Schobl District No One to vote on the
question of levying an additional special schoul tax of fiteen cents on the hundred
dollars valuation of real and personal property for the purpose of supplementing our
quota of school funds aluotted to our district by ytuur hcnor ble Board'
The boundary lines of said district are as follows: 1�� 1
Beginning at the 23 mile post cn'the McArthur Rublic oad llorth of t.e city of
Fayetteville, running thence due West to the 11cCormick Public Road; thence South witl said
road to Barbecue - Creek; thence up the said Creek tc, CampbellSs Bridge on the Public
Road; thence South with said road a distance of two and one half miles; thence an Elasterly
course to the anderson creek township line; thence Ncrtheast with said township line to its
intersection jet with the Lillington and Johnsonville road; thence with said road to Clarkes'
bridge on Upper Little River. t,er :ce up said river to Small's 'ranch; thence in a '��esterly
direction as the old wagon road used to run to its intersection, with the McDougald road;
thence with said road to the McDougald road; thence to the beginning.
