Board of County Commissioners met in all session. The following members were pres nt;
W.J.McStswart,J.C.Sentsr and Jas. A. Taylor, Chairman. Also Mr. Young, attorney.
Board of Education represented by B.P.Gen *JW and D.P. MoDonald,Treas. came before Board
to ask that some disposition of the $115875.00 loan for the bohool Building Fund.
Moved and seconded that that the loan be divided in the following banks, equally:
Bank of Lillington
Bank of Harnett
jet. Hat. Bank of Dunn.
With interest on daily balance at 4%. Interest figured every 30 days.
Board then ad7journed until next regular meeting date.

]loved and seconded that G.L. Buquay's bill of $44.00 be paid and Johnson, Bupt. of
Convict Camp be instructed to bring all patients to County Health Officer.
Moved and seconded that allots J.J.Cook a rebate of $1200.00 property listed by error
in Averasboro Townsehip.

Moved and seconded that J.C.Senter and and W.J.160kewart be appointed Committee

A RESOLUTION.
Be IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF HARNETT COUNTY;
That one note be executed in the sur-_ of w25000.00 dated May 1, 1924' and maturing
Oct. 1, 1924-and bearing interest a$ 5•} both interest and principal to Beaier, at Chatham and
Pheonix National Bank of New York City, In anticipating of the payment of same by the sta
State Highwsry Commission of N.C. and that the said note be sold or hypothecated by Eyer
and Company of New York City, and the proceeds thereof turned into the General Fund of Har-
nett County,N.C.
Be it further r4solved that the full faith and credit of Harnett County be pledged to t
the Punctual payment and interest of said note at maturety.

Petition to Board of Education for special School Tax Election in Duke Township, filed
with Minutes.•
A RESOLUTION AND PETITION.
VNERHAS there has been filed before the Board of Education of Harnett County a peti-
tion signed by Twenty Five or more of the qualified coters of Duke School Districy No 1, pray-
ing for an election in said district for the purpose of subritting to"the voters of ,said Dis-
trict the question of of issuing vonds and levying a sufficient taxfor the payment thereof
for the purpose of erecting and equiping E
said District. ehool Buildings and purchasing sites in and for
NOW, - THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF HARNETT COUNTY. That the
Board of Commissioners of said County be and the same are hereby petitioned and requested to
call an election to be held in said Duke school District No 1, at the earliest practicable
date for the purpose of submitting to the voters of said District the question of issuing
bonds in a sum not esceeding Ninety Thousand Dollars and levying a sufficient tax for the
payment thereof, for the purpose of erecting and equiping school buildings and purchasing
sites in and for sgid District as provided in Chapter 136, Public Laws of 1923, and especial4y
as provided in part V111 thereof.

that an election be called in said Distriey submitting to the voters of said District the
question of issuing Monds in :Um'a surf not exceeding Ninety Thousand Dollars, and levying
a sufficient tax for the payment thereof for the purpose of erecting and equiping school
buildings and acquiring sites therefor in and for said District; and
WHEREAS, said Board of Education has endorsed said petition with its approval and has
by resolutin "of said Board of Education requested this Board to call said election:
NOW, THEREFCRE, BE IT RESCLVED BY THE BOARD OF CCM'ISSICNERS OF HARNETT COUNTY, That a
special election be and the same is hereby called to be held in Duke Txxmwh 4) School Dis-
trict No 1 in Duke Township, u,on the question of issuing bonds in a sum not exceeding
Ninety Thousand Dollars and levying a sufficient tax for the payment thereof, for the purpose
of erecting and equiping "chool building& and purchasing sites therefor in said District
to be held at the Cafe, In Erwin's park, in the Village of Duke, on the 14th, day of May,
1924, under the provisions of Chapter 136, Public Laws of 1923, at which election those vot-
ive favoring the issuance of said bonds and the levying of said special tax for the payment
of same shall vote a ballot upon which is written or printed the words "For Ussuance of Ninety
Thousand Dollars School Bonds and the L vying of a tax for the payment thereof ", and those
voters opposing the same shall vote a ballot upon which is written or printed the words "Agaidst
the Issuance of Ninety Thousand Dollars School Bonds and the Levying of a tax for the paymeri.t
thereof •
RESOLVED FURTHER, that for the purpose of said election a new Registration of the
qualified voters of said School District is ordered; that R.K.P ate be and he is hereby
appointed Registrar and W.F.Blakk'And 1're. C.S.Hicks, be and they are hereby duly appointed
Poll Holders; that notice of said election shall be given in tje Dunn Dispatch, a newpap:er
having circulation in saidDistrict in three separ to issues, the first publication to be at
least thirty days prior to said election, and notice of said new registration shall be pub-
lished at least once a week in said newspaper twenty days prior to the close of registration,
sa d notices may be confirmed in the same notice. The registration books for said election
shall be held open at the pol ing place hereinbefcre designated, to -wit: Cafe in "Twin's
Park in the Village of Duke for twenty days next preceding the date for closing said
registration books, to -wit: Saturday, the 3rd. day of 1�ay, 1924, said books being held open
for the purpose of registering voters from the 14th. day of April to the 3rd. day of ,may,
both inclusive, said notice shall also set forth the bound-ries of said district, as now
d fined.

We, the undersigned, constituting tvaenty five qualified voters in school district #1,
Stewartts creek township, Harnett County, North Carolina, having resided in this District 12
months and more do hereby petition your Honorable Board for an election to ascertain_tkmx:i:kl.
whether there shall be levied annually a special tax for schools f twenty cents on the One
Hundred dollars valuation of property, the same to be additional to the thirty cents tax
on the one hundred dollars valuation previously voted, making a total special tax for schools
of fifty cents on the one hundred dollars valuation of property, The boundaries of said
di stric:y in which the election is to beheld are as follows:
Beginning at a point where the Linden Scho:1 District line in Harnett County touches the
Cape Fear River, and runs thence with this line across Stewart's Creek township to the old
Atkinsi Road ; thence North along this road about one and one half miles to Sam McDougaid's
South land line; thence North to Upper Little River; thence down said River to Cape Fear
