RESOLUTION: WHEREAS, by reference to deed'. from 41arenee J. Smith, Trustee, recorded in Book 236 at page 234, it appears that the lands, of I.W. Smith were fore closed, subject to all taxes due by I.W. &With to Lander, of Harnett for year 1930; it is therefore ordered that the garnishment proceedings institu ed by R.G.B. Shaw, Tax Collector, -be discontinued and that said lands de- Scribed in said deed be held liable for said taxes due by I.W. Smith for ye '1930. RESOLUTION WHEREAS: The Board of commissioners as ascertained that certain garnishment proceedings have been instituted against certain Sssessors and List- Takers of Harnett County; And whereas, the Board of Commissioners of this (bounty had full power to dis -allow any claims for services rendered by these list- takers when sai list- takers and Assessors has not paid their taxes for 1930; And whereas, the Board or Commissioners had not used its power or con- templated using its power to deduct taxes except upon request of the list- takers and assessors; And whereas, in the opinion of this Board of Commissioners the said garnishment proceedings against these list-takers and assessors was apex unnecessary and was not ordered or requested by this Board; Now therefore, be it resolved that R.G.B.Shaw, Tax Collector, be re- quested to discontinue these garnishment proceedings at once against list- takers and assessors of this County. The above resolution being adopted by a unanimous vote of the Board. It was ordered that Er. J.W. Halford, Chairman, execute in the name of the County cif jiarnett a dontract, with Burroughs Adding Machine Gompany for purchase of one 6 -1708 Budgetory Book - Keeping mgehine for price of $800.00 less $50.00 allowance, for old machine; said purchase price to be paid not later than Nova 1, 1931 without interest. It is ordered that H.A. .Turlington, Tax Supervisor, be instrueted to in- vestigate the status of the lands owned by the persons whose names are mit set forth on pages 515 and 516 of this book, and if any lands do exist the said Tax Supervisor shall cause the same to be assessed and properly listed. The Board appointed the following Qammittee to settle the matter of boundary lines with Johnston County in regard to taxation: J.B. Ennis, H.A. Turlington and I.R. Williams. It was ordered that J.S, McLean adjust the matter of taxes with W. I. Norden and Union Central Life Insurance company. t- ar It was ordered that J.S. McLean be authorized to notify Walter- Charnley and ao. of the fact that its bid is the lowest bid and to' prepare contract. It was ordered that J.S. McLean be authorized to give relief to ! ellie Sutton for error in valuation if any has occared It was then ordered that the Board adjourn until 2 :30, P.M. Monday, May llth. .uS S ,.
