HomeMy WebLinkAbout09011930176 September -1, 1930, The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session September 1, 1930 with all the members present, except Chairman Morgan; J: 01 West, County Atty was also present. The meeting was called to order by Vice - Chairman Turlington, the minutes wire read and approved. It is ordered that R. G. B. Shaw, Tax Collector be authorized to containue the County landusalds from day to day until Monday Sept 22, 1930. It is ordered that 0. A. Cobb of Grove Township be allowed $30.00 for the purpose of defraying expenses of his three deaf & dumb children to the State Inatitution at Marginton, N.C. It is ordered that J. A. Johnson be allowed $S.00 per month for carrying for Lucinda Gilbert, Address of J. A. Johnson, Fuquay Springs #1 Bx. 137. Chairman Morgan came late and took the_Chairmans seat. n It is ordered that Mrs. Flora Clark of Jonesboro #3, be allowed $5.00 per month of Sept. Temporary relief. It is ordered that the county pay expenses in the amount of $1.00 per day at the State Sanatorium, for Miss Anna West of Erwin. It is ordered that J. O. Vest & C. H. Pope be re- imbursed $5.00 for moneys spent for supplies for W. R. Johnson a county charge of Harnett County. It is ordered -that the county make plans to get Mrs. Bob Pope of Dunn, N.C. on the.prisioners family aid fund, at $10.00 per month. It is ordered that the property of John P. Byrd listed in Stewart's Creek be reduced $780.00 for reason timber having been cut and dwelling house having been burned. RESOLUTION: To the Honorable Board of Commissioners of Harnett County: The petitioner, Mrs. Elvira Massengill respectfully shows: 1. That she is the owner of a residence lot in the Town of Dunn Averasboro Township, which lot is valued at $3600.00. 2. That she desires to sell a portion of this lot, which protion is 2t feet by 50 feet in size and fronts on Cumberland Street twenty eight feet, and on which portion is situated a small frame storf house, 3. That she has an opportunity to sell said lot but the cash payment is not sufficient to pay taxes now assessed against said residence lot, 4. That she desires to pay all taxes and paying assfssments now due on the protion of said lot which she has an apportunity to sell. 5. That she believes that seven hundred and fifty and no /100 dollars is a fair tax 'value 'on the tartlet-she desires to sell. Wherefore your petitioner does pray that this board pass an order authorizing the tax collector to release the poraction of said lot.above men ed upon the payment of the pro -rata taxes and assessments according to sue. lue as this board may place -upon said portion, Elvira Massengill, $E IT 'RESOLVED by the board of Commissioners of ghe County of Marne t that the lot now owned by Mrs, Elnra Massengill and described below be and the same is hereby released upon the payment of the taxes on the same upon a valuation of $750.00 Being a certain lot in Dunn lying on the south side of Cumberland Street, fronting on Cumberland St. 2$ feet and running back with the East edg of Culbreth alley fifty feet. It is ordered that R. R. Raynor be permitted' to epperate a pool room and bowling Alley in South Erwin and to pay the tax set out under Schedule B. 47; It is ordered tht H. M. Morgan of Duke Township be relieved of 1929 poll tax. It -is ordered that Charles P. McKee 1926 and 1929 poll tax. It is ordered that Oara Teague of U. L. River Township be released of $1.74 cost added to taxes. It is ordered that the property listed by 3. A. Lanier buckhorn be reduced $695.00 for reason of timber having been cut. It is ordered that. the Four County Fair, to be held in Dunn the week of Oct 21st, 1930, be policed by Harnett County. It is rdered thtt L. G. Smith present Janitor be dismissed for inefficient and negligence of duty and J. E. Duptee County Auditor is impowered to employ some competent person as Janitor,` It is ordered that J. W. Halford property listed in Upper Little River Township be reduced $300.00 for reason of timber having been cut. It is ordered by the Bo -.rd of County Commissioners that no further reduc- tion be granted tae tax payers of Harnett County on lands in said county be reason of timber having been cut and houses having been cut. of Duke Township be relievedxof township ESOLUTION: Be it resolved by the Board of County Commissioner of Harnett County N. C. that the taxtvhichRie due Harnett County from the County aid Road fund be received and applied to the Matintenance & Upkeep of roads in Harnett Oounty. All members voting for. It is ordered that the 1926 tax receipts be delivered to J. 0. West, for the purpose of collecting delinquent taxes and bring foreclosurer proceedings as is required by law.
