the Board of Commissioners met in "Call Session" with the following
members present: W. C. Lowdermilk, T. R. Rosser, C. EL Pope, and Stuart
Turlington, Vice Chairman, the meeting being called t'e.:'order by the Vice
Chairman.
It is ordered that J. E. Dupree, County Auditor bring forward all
unlisted taxes for the year 1930-
The meeting adjourned until the first Monday in June
1930.

The Bonrd_-of County Commissiohers met in regular session on June
2nd, 1930 with all the members being present except Stuart Turlington.
Also J. O. West, County Atty. The mintues were read and approved.
IT is ordered that the'land formerly listed by Marshal Smith and the
25 acres now owned by the heirs of _Phoeba Smith, be released of Taxes for th
years 1927 -1925 upon the payment of $76.14.
It is ordered that the property listed by J. J. Cook in Averasboro.
Township and that protion of said property on which a house is now situate&
and said house & lot having-been sold to Chas Watkins be released from all
back taxes upon the payment of one -half of the tax of the property listed by
J. J. Cooke. It appearing to the Commissioners that the value of said .house
& lot is $2000.00' and the county Auditor is hereby authorized to refund the
said Chas Watkins one half of the taxes heretofore paid by the said Chas.
Watkins.
It is ordered that Joe E. Jernigan be fefunded the taxes paid on
$400.00 valuation of improvements that was by error listed in 1929 in
averasboro township.
It is ordered that the property listed by Mrs. Lucy Denning in Grove
Township be reduced from $3193..00 to'$2393.00 -for reason of dwelling hawing
been burned.
It is, ordered that the county pay $10.00 for teeth for John Turlingto,
inmate of the County Home.
It is ordered that Thedore Tripp be hired out to his father Moses Tripp
for a term of 12 months upon the payment' of the Coat. The said Theodore Tripe'
is to be a law abiding citizen and he is to attend church & sunday school
regularly and the said Moses Tripp, father of Theodore Tripp, is to give
bond in the sum of $200.00 for the payment of the Cost which amt. is $131.65
satd cost to be paid by Oct 15th, 1930, waid bond to be filed with the Clerk
of Court,
It is ordered that the County pay W. R. Strickland of Duke Township
per month, Address Dunn, N.O. # 3, Box 33.,

SOLUTION :
It is ordered by the Board of Commissioners that Stewarts Creek School
District # 78 by permitted to use $500.00 out of the school dubget as adopted
for the purpose of employing the necessary Teachers for said school for the
school year 1930 -31, and the Auditor is hereby authorized to Honor vouchers
presented from Stewarts Creek School District # 75 for the above amount.

It is ordered that $5000.00 be deducted from the School Budget for replace -
ment of Trucks.

NORTH CAROLINA, SUPERIOR COURT,
HARNITT COUNTY. MAY TERM 1930,
TO HIS HONOR, C. C. LYON, JUDGE PRESIDING:
We, the Grand Jury, for the May term 1930, of Harnett Superior Court, do
hereby submit this as our report covering our transactions and recommendations
during said Term;
We have diligently inquired into and made returns of all bills of indictment
sent'us by the Solicitor.
We have inspected the County Home and find it in most excellent dondition,
and all the inmates property cared for.
We have inspected the several offices in the Courthouse and find them in
excellent condition, but we make the following recommendations as to some; That
the floors of the Tax Collector's office, and the rear office of the Clerk of
Sueprior Court be convered.
•We have inspected the Jail and find it in excellent condition, the prisoners
therein had no complaint to make.
We have inspected the Convict Camp and find it in a very satisfactory and
Sanitary condition.
We desire to make the following general recommendations and observations:
lst. We recommend that two water founts ns be installed on the first floor
of the court house, one for White and one for colored.
2nd. We recommend that a telephone be installed in the County Home.
3rd. We recommend that a high fence be put around the county Jail.
4th. We recommend that the Floore in the Register of Deeds office be
painted.
In conclusion we desire 'to express our thanks to his Honor, Judge Lyon,
the Judge presiding, the solicitor, and to all the other court officials, for
the assistance rendered us and for the courtesies shown us during this term.

• Upon Motion of Commissioner Lowdermilk, seconded by Commissioner Rosser, .t
was unanimously ordered that official tax receipt for 1926 taxes by Willis Byrd,
of Stewart's Creek Township, be delifered to him by hon. J. 0. West, County
Attorney, upon payment to him of $1.40 balance of 1926 taxes; and further, that
county attorney take a non -suit in the action for collectinn of 1926 taxes agai-ist
said Willis Byrd, the county to pay the costs.
