The Board of Commissioners of Harnett County met in Gall Session on Thurdday June 6, 1929 with all the members being present. - Upon motion. of Wm. Morgan and duly seconded by Stuart Turlington, That the Harnett County School Budget for 1929 -30 be adopted by this Board. Voting for above resolution: Wm. Morgan, Stuart Turlington and W. C. McLeod be appointed - Judge: of Recroders Court of Dunn,, The two motions. being before the Commissioners in Joint session they voted by roll Call as follows: John McLeod, Ohm. Stuart Turlington, W. C. Loudermilk, Wm. Morgan, C. H. Pope, G. T. Noel, 0.. B. Aycock, J. W. Purdie, L. A. Tart, The above voteltecrintleen recorded the Chairman declared John. A. McLeo duly elected Judge of Recorder's Court for the town of Dunn, for the two ensuing years. The meeting of the two boards Jointly were adjour,�n?ed. The meeting was called -'to order by the Chairman of the County Goim The coma heard motions for the appointment of Cotton Weigher for the Town of ngier, Upon motion of Wm. Morgan and dulyseaonded by Stuart Turlington that A D. Wilson be appointed Cotton Weigher, for the town of Angier. Upon Motion of E. E. Council and duly seconded by Young that C. Adams be appointed Cotton Weigher for the town of Angier. The two motions being before the Comm. in Joint — Session they decided vote by Ballot,the results being as follows: A. D. Wilson receiving (5) five votes and C. S. Adams receiving (4) four votes. The above votes having been recorded the Chairman declared A. D. .Wilson duly elected Cotton Weigher for the town of Angier for the enetning two Years. The meeting of the two boards Jointly were adjourned. RESOLUTION : Be it resolved by the Board' of Comm. of Harnett County; That the Coup depository be moved from the Bank of Lillington at Lillington, N. C. to the Fi Citizens Bank and Trust Co. of Smithfield, with a branch Bank in Dunn, N. C. Upon receipt of a 50,000 bond with some satisfactory bonding Co. or State and Government bonds. It is ordered that J. E. Dupree County Auditor, instruct Ben Parker not to furnish any thing other than Casket for the inmates of the County Home die while there, unless authorized to do so by J. E. CLERK TO BOARD. REGULAR MEETING,' July lst, 1929. The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session July lst, 1929 with all members present together with the county Attorney. The meeting was oalled to order by the Chairman. The minutes were read and approved. It is ordered that Harnett County appropriate $500.00 to be used for the purpose of carrying on the work of the Forrest Fire Protection in Harnett County for the year 1929-1930. Voting for:Morgan, Turlingtoni McLeod, Lowdermilk, Against: Pope. SOL TI N WHEREAS, sufficient taxes have not been collected to pay appropriations made for the current fiscal year in 1929- 1930, Harnett County, and a temp- orary loan is neeessary to meet such appropriations. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the-Board of County Commissioners of Harnett County, North Carolina that said County borrow and be authorized to borrow, on the faith and credit of said countyT as provided in Section 4 of "The County Finance Act", the sum of Seventy five Thousand Dollars, ($73,000) for the purpose of raising funds to meet the appropriations made for ordinary expenses of said Countyo and the Chairman of this Board be and is hereby authorized to exxcute a note or notes in the aforesaid sum dated July 20, 1,29 payable to bearer, signed by t e said Chairman, and attested by the Clerk to the Board, payable on the ZOth day of January, 1930, and bearing interest at the rate of fil per cent per annum, and that such note or notes be negotiated and delivered by the said Chairman for the purposesaforesaid." RELEASE OF TAUS IT IS ORDERED that Butler Bros. Co. of Averasboro Township, Dunn, N.C. be granted a relief on 0716.66 leaving Butler Bros. Do. to pay the tax for the year 1928 on the Amount of $9433.32. All members voting for. It is Ordered that 47650.00 be transferred to the Special School district of the County from the School Budget as adopted June 6, 1929 for Transportati It is ordered that 41800.00 be cut out of School Budget as adopted June 6, 1929 for Two (2) Trucks. It is ordered thS $2800.00 be cout out of School Budget as adopted June 6, 1929 for Liability Insurance. All members voting for. UPON DUE CONSIDERATION of then board it is ordered that this county accept "The Workman° compensation Act" by taking the insurance as provided therein. The contract to be let to Eugene Lee, Agent of Dunn, N.C. All Memberds voting for. It is ordered that a Committee be appointed by the Chairman to devise plans whereby there may be more taxables placed on the tax books in this oounty. The committee appointed by the Chairman is as follows, J. O. West County Atty., Wm. Morgan, Comm. J. E. Dupree, County Auditor, all members voting for. It is ordered that the list- takers in Harnett County he allowed 46.00 per day for services rendered, the county in listing taxes. All mbmbers voting for. It is ordered that Jas. Pearsall list taker for Averasboto Township be allowed 472.00 for traveling expenses and extra help during the time of listing taxes. Voting for: Pope, Burlington, Morgan, Lowdermilk, Against: McLeodo 4- It is ordered that Paul Turlington9 and Lee,Turlington-;be.appointed poll holder for a Sepcial School election in Grove Township. It is ordered that Milton Sykes be sent to the State school for Blind deaf and Dumb. And themquired amount of $45.00 be paid by the County when the bill is presented. It is ordered that be sent to Good Hope Hospital at 71rptn, or Hikhsmiths Hospital at Fayetteville, the decision to be made by the County Auditor. • if
