County Commissioners met ih regular session on Monday June 4, 1928. 111

Minutes of last meetings read and approved,
PAUPER �101NCES.:
It is ordered that Alex Wood be allowed 415.00 per month instead of 130.00.
This is recommended by Mrs. i'ewis, Welfare officer.
It is ordered that Mrs. Ella Day be allowed $15.00 per month instead of
130.00, and that this be paid for two months only and then discontinued.
It is ordered that W.A. Jones be allowed .00 per month as pauper allowance
and that voucher be mailed to Dunn, N.C. 5,
TAI RELEASES:
It is ordered that the following be relieved of taxes:
That Mrs. W.M. Maynard of Averaboro township be relieved of 0.90 school
tax, property listed in wrong, school district.
That Mrs. Grizzella Bethea In'eson of Lilington township be relieved of
49.12, same property listed and paid by Mrs. H.D. Seerest.
That Mrs. F.M. Denning of Grove township be relieved of 41.00 dog tax.
That Sand Hill Power Company of Stewartss Creek township be relieved of
$10.36 on account of error in,',acres listed.
That Mrs, Eizzie Dupree of Grove township be relieved of $8.69 error in
valuation of property.
That Ernest Byrd of Upper Little River township be relieved. of *4.48, drror
in value of car listed and dog tax.
That Mrs. J.B. Lanier of Lill:ngton township be relieved of $10.00 error in
valuation of lot.
That Jeff Holt of Averasboro township be relieved of poll tax for 1927 on
account of his physical condition.
It is ordered that R.T. Rambeaut of Black River Township be relieved of
Poll Tax, he being an inmate of State Asylum,

It is ordered that report from John Green, Tax Collector, be accepted and

It is ordered that H.C. Mann be appointed as member of the Road Board to fill
the vacancy made by the resignation of W.L. Senter.
It is ordered that Dermott Heating Company be allowed 41050.00 for installing
new boiler in jail, and that there is now due 4350.00 on said bill.
It is ordered that in the tax suit cases of County of Harnett vs. Hanibal Pop
et als; County of Harnett vs. W.A. Lee er also and County of Harnett vs. Euni
McKay, that the county attorney, I.R. Williams, is instructed to take a non-
suit in the above cases upon condition that the taxes due by eaoh of the abov
defendants be paid at once plus 6% interest from the date of tax sale oertifi
oate, and the costs due C.S.C. advanced by the County. For the reason that t'e
present owners of the land had no notice as required by law prior to bringing
of the said tax suits.

RESOLUTIONS AUTHORIZING THE renewal of two notes of 435,000.00 and $20,000.00
respeotively:

STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA, Lillington, N.C. June 4, 19
COUNTY OF HARNETT.
RESOLVED that pursuant to Section 5 of the County Finance Act for the
purpose of paying the principal or interest of bonds or notes issued for
neeessafy expenses and due or to become due within four months and not otherwi =e
adequately provided for, the County of Harnett shall borrow 435,000.00 in
anticipation of the receipt of the reven *ea of the next succeeding fisoal year,
and issue notes therefor, dated June 8th, 1928, and maturing October 8th, 1928,
bearing interest at SIX PER CENT (6 %) per annum, payable at maturity, principa'
and interest payable at the CHASE NATIONAL BANK, in New York, N.Y., and issued
in substantially the following form:

payable in gold coin of the United States of the present standard of weight an
fineness at the Bank, in the City and State of New York.

the purpose of paying the principal or interest of bonds or notes issued for
necessary expenses and due or to become due within four months and not otherwi e
adequately provided for in anticipation of the receipt of the revenues of the
next succeeding fiscal year.
It is hereby certified and recited that all conditions, acts and
things required by the Constitution or Laws of the State of North Carolina to
exist, be performed or happen precedent to or in the issue of this note exist,
have been performed and have happened and that this note, together with all
pther indebtedness of the said County of , is within every debt and oth=r
limit prescribed by the said Constitution or ws. The full faith and credit
of the said County of are hereby pledged to the punctual pay-
ment of the principal and interest of this note.

Resolved that the Clerk has heretofore been authorized and directed to
publish, in the Harnett County News , a newspaper having
general circulation in the County, at least five days before the sale of sale,
a °notice in substantially the following form:
NOTICE OF SALE OF NOTES
The County of Harnett will receive sealed bids, to be
Noon on June 4th, 1928, at the Auditor's Office, Lillington
following notes:
435,000.00 dated June 8th, 1928, due four months from date.
$20, 000.00 dated June 8th, 1928, due five months from date.
Both of said notes to bear, interest from date, These notes will issue
for the purpose of renewing notes.

authorized herein to Bray Borthers Company, Greensboro, N.C. at not less

On motion duly seconded, a roll -eall vote was had., and all of the
five members were present and voted in favor of said resolutions, none being
absent.
The Board is composed of five duly elected, qualified and acting
members, viz: Jas. A. Buchanan, Chairman, J.A. Hockaday, Z.T. Snipes, B.P.
Ingram, and L.R. Byrd, and Mamie Sexton Byrs is Clerk of said Board, and all
of the members Were duly notified of this meeting, The Nank:of Lillington,
Lillington, N.C. is County Treasurer, and J.P. Bradley, County Auditor, is
Chief Financial Officer.

COUNTY OF HARNETT.
RESOLVED that pursuant to Section 5 of the CountynFinance Act
for the purpose of paying the principal or interest of bonds or notes issued

otherwise adequately provided for, the County of Harnett shall borrow $20,000.00
