The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, Jan. 2,
1928, and all members present as follows: Jas. A. Buchanan, Chairman; Z.V.
Snipes, J.A. Hockaday, B.Y. Ingram and L.R. Byrd, and County Attorney I.R.
Williams.
Minutes of last meeting read and approved.
RESOLUTION:
The following resolution was passed:
'.WHEREAS, it has become necessary for Harnett County to borrow money
to pay the principal or interest on bonds or notes to become due within four
months, and not otherwise adequately provided for:
" NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County Commissioners
of Harnett County, North Carolina, that said Board be authorized to borrow on
the faith and credit of said County the sum of THIRTY -SIX THOUSAND ($36,000.00
DOLLARS, for the purpose of raising funds with which to pay the principal or
interest on bonds or notes, either or both, to become due within four months,
as provided under Section 5 of "The County Finance Act ", and the Chairman of
this Board be authorized to execute a note or notes for the aforesaid mention
sum, dated January 25, 1928, payable to bearer, signed by the Chairman of the
Board and attested by the Clerk of said Board, payable on the 25th day of
April, 1928, and bearing interest at the rate of 4.50 per cent per annum, and
that such note or notes be negotiated an' elivered by the chairman for the
purposes aforesaid."

WHEREAS, in the opinion .f the Board of County Commissioners of Harnett
County, North Carolina, it is necessary to borrow the sum of Seven Thousand
and Five Hundred Dollars, for the purpose of paying the
appropriations made for the current fiscal year in anticipation of the
collection of taxes and other revenues of such fiscal year;
Be it, therefore, resolved: By the County Board of Commissioners of Harnet
County, that the County of Harnett borrow, and be authorized to borrow, on
the full faith and credit of said county as provided in Chapter 81, Sections
&and 7, Laws of 1927, the sum of Seven Thousand, Five Hundred Lollars
($7,500.00) Dollars, for the purpose of raising funds to meet the said appro-
priations made for the current fiscal year in anticipation•of the collection
of taxes and other revenues of said fiscal year, and the Chairman of the Boar
be authorized to execute a note dated Jan. 9, 1928, , payable to Bearer,
signed by the Chairman of said Board of Commissioners, attested by the said
Clerk, payable on the 9 th day ofMarch ,19 28 , bearing interest
from maturity at such rate not exceeding six per cent as the chairman may
receive after advertising said note according to law at public auction, and
that said note be delivered and negotiated by the Chairman of the Board of
County Commissioners for the purpose aforesaid.

Allowances for Mothers' Aid and Paupers:
It is ordered that Jane Byrd be allowed 42.50 per months.
It is ordered that Mrs. Katie Matthews be allowed 410.00 per month as
Mothers' Aid case.
It is ordered that Lovenia Cox be allowed 410.00 per month. This aotion
was taken at December meeting.
It is ordered that voucher for $15.00 be issued to Miss Dora Matthews,
indigent, and that same be mailed to Mr. H.S. Holloway, Varina, B.C.
TAX RETRASES:
It is ordered that the following be relieved of taxes:
J.F. Andrews of Hector's Creek be relieved of $18.20- 4910.00 in cotton from
which the List taker failed to deduct debts.
Holder of U.L.R, township be relieved of 46.02 special school tax,
F.O. Byrd of Stewart's Creek township be relieved of 44.00 dog tax.
That I.P. Tutor of Buekhorn township be relieved of 42.75 poll tax paid. in
Wake County.
That James Best of Neill's Creek township be relieved of $55.11 spec
school tax.
That H.L. Prince be relieved of taxes on 4400.00 valuation in Neill'
township, error in listing acres.

It is ordered that Oscar Harrington of U.L.R. Township be relieved of $2.00
poll tax, he not being 21 years of age.

It is ordered that report from J,M. Hough be accepted and filed, and that
bills attached to the amount of 4361.80 be paid,
SETTIMMENT IN FULL YPLIAuDIT OF CO. B00XS 4
It is ordered that the sum of 4100,00 be turned over to Lee Rawlings ea Company,
Accountants, in full settlement of the account presented by this Company for
auditing the books of the county and that no additional sums be paid this Co.
for these sergicea.
It is ordered that resignation pg F. Smith, Treas. of Stewart's Creek Township
Road Commission be accepted and'filed; and that
B.F. Trulove is hereby nominated land elected to the office of Treasurer of
Stewart's Creek Township Road Commission.
It is ordered that W.N. lkDonaldibe allowed to list "Wild Billa property
purchased from Board of Education for 41000.00 valuation Bunnievel Special
School District.
It is ordered that note for 436,000.00 be
enewed for 90 days.
It is ordered that contract for pump,and water tank complete for County
Home be•given Dowdy & Butler for $1000.00.
It is moved and seconded that New County Home be accepted.
It is ordered that Rural Policemen be continued for one more month.
