HomeMy WebLinkAbout10031927'0o MINUTES OF MEETING OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ON MONDAY OCT. 3,_ 1927. Commissioners met in regular session on Monday Oct. 3, 1927. All members being present, with I.E. Williams, County Attorney. Minutes of last meeting read and approved. Upon motion of Commissioner Jas. A. Hookaday, seconded by L,R. Byrd, the following resolution was passed. All members of said Board voting in favor of said Resolution "REVENUE ANTICIPATION NOTE FOR DEBT SERVICE" WHEREAS, it has become necessary for Harnett County to borrow money to pay the principal or interest on bonds or notes to become due within four months, and not otherwise adequately provided for. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOIVED by the Board of County .Commissioners of Harnett County, North Carolina, that said Board be authorized to borrow on the faith and credit of said county, the sum of -Five Thousand Dollars, (35 000.00), for the purpose of raising funds with which to pay the principal or interest on bonds or notes, either or both, to become due within four months, as provided under Section 5 of "The County Finance Act ", and the Chairman of this Board be authorized to execute a note or notes for the aforementioned sum, dated October 24 , 1927, payable to bearer, signed by the Chairman of the Board, and attested by the Clerk to said Board, payable on the 24th day of February, 1928, and bearing interest at the rate of per cent per annum, and that such note or notes be negotiated and delivered by the said Chairman fir the =ur oses foresaid. WHEREAS, sufficient taxes have not been collected to pay appropriations made for the current fiscal year in Harnett County, and a temporary loan, as necessary to meet such appropriations: OW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the County Commissioners of Harnett County, North Carolina, that the said county borrow,, and be authorized to borrow, on the faith and credit of said county, as provided in Section 4 of the "County Finance Act", the sum of Twenty Thousand Doltars, for the purpose of raising funds to meet the appropriations made for ordinary expenses of said county, and the chairman of this Board be and he is hereby authorized to execute a note or notes in the aforementioned sum dated Oct. 8, 1927, payable to bearer, signed by the Chairman, attested by the clerk to the board payable on the 8th day of March, 1928, and bearing interest at the rate of per cent. per annurp, and that such note or notes be negotiated and delivered by said Chairman for the purposes aforesaid. Barnes, upon the payment of the sum of $ by W.Y. Pope on real estate. It is ordered that courthouse yard be sown in grass at once. It is ordered that $6.50 be paid Robt. C. Strong, Supreme Court Reporter, for the advance sheets of N.C. Supreme Court Proceedings. REPORTS. It is ordered that report of S.B. Cosiness, Supt. of Convict Camp, be accepted and filed, and that bills attached to the amount $879.94 be paid. It is ordered that report of L.Y. Chaffin C.S.C. be accepted and filed, and that checks attached for $301.05 and 4584.25 be turned over to County Auditor. It is ordered that report of I.R. Williams be 'mooted and filed, amount eolleeted as follows It is ordered that report of J.Y. Sough be accepted and filed. It is ordered that report of Rural Policeman be accepted and filed. t is ordered that corner lot of Mrs. J.G. Layton be reduced $6000.00. It is ordered that the contract to sell county —home property. be given to J.C. Thomson and Geo. L. Cannaday, contract to be properly given and filed. c It is ordered that Vera Soneyoutt be relieved of speoial school tax for the years 1923, 1924, 1925, amount $88.50, Grove township. It. is ordered that the property of J.G. Layton be reduced $8000.00, which property is the store now occupied by J.G. Layton. It is ordered that Mr. Morrisette, Auditor, be allowed $1100.00 in full payment of county audit. It is ordered that Bealey Benoit be allowed $00.00 per month as pauper allowance, and this amount to be mailed to G.E. Baker, tuquay Spriggs, N.C. It is ordered that 1926 tax books be turned over to county auditor after settlement with tax collector. It is ordered that 1$ discount be allowed to all tax payers during the month of October. It is ordered that the property of Ram Baggett be reduced $8000.00; brisk building $1500.00, resident WPCs Street $500.00. It is ordered that property of Mrs. Laura Sexton Estate be reduced to $3000.00 It is ordered that Neill W. Parker o( Lillington township property be reduced $1500.00. It is ordered that the property of J.A. Taylor be reduced $1000.00, office property in Dunn, lverasboro township. It is ordered that property of Mrs. J.D.
