MINUTES OF MEETING OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MARCH 7th, 1927.
County Commissioners met in regular session March 7th, 1927. All
members present with county attorney.
Minutes of last meeting read and approved.
It is ordered that the county attorney be instructed to add 6% per annum
to the amount of taxes and costs from all persons who are due the county
back taxes and who pay the said taxes before foreclosure suit is insti-
tuted for the collection of said taxes, against all persons who are sued
by the county for taxes, the lawful interest rate of twenty per cent per
annum shall be added.
It is ordered that all confederate soldiers be allowed railroad fare to
Tampa, Fla. to attend Reunion in April.
It is ordered that Rural Police work be continued three more months.
It is ordered that the Sheriff be authorized to repair steps in court house.
It is ordered that hospital expenses of Harry Baucome be not assumed by
this County.
It is ordered that contract from State Board of Health for vaccination
against Diptheria, Typhoid fever, given in county during 1927, be accepted
and filed.
It is ordered that the operation of Northington ferry for the year 1927 be
awarded to S.T. Lanier and L.D. Arnold for 427.00 per month, and that checks
be issued each month to S.T. Lanier and L.D. Arnold jointly during said
year as long as the duties pertaining to said ferry are preformed satisfactorf
It is ordered that telephone bill be attached to Sheriff's bill.
PAUPER ALLOWANCES:
It is ordered that H.S. Byrd be allowed 425.00 per month for keeping Mrs.
Thannie Williams, pauper.
It is ordered that Martha Hartfield be allowed 44.00 per month, and cheek to
be mailed to her.
REPORTS:
It is ordered that report from J.M. Hough, Supt. of County Home, be accepted
and filed, and all bills to be paid.
It is ordered that report from Supt. of Convict Camp be accepted and filed,
and that all bills attached to the amount of 4910.40 be paid.
It is ordered that report from John Green, Tax Collector, be accepted and
filed.
It is ordered that report from Sheriff Matthews be accepted and filed.
It is ordered that report from C.S.C. be accepted and filed, and checks
attached for 4172.05 and 4326.25 be turned over to county auditor.
RELEASES OF TAXES:
It is ordered that the following be relieved of taxesl
H. Griffis of Averasboro township be relieved of 42.98 error in school
district.
Sim Elliott of Averasboro township be relieved of 41.95, this property being
listed and paid by Sidney Massey, Sr.
Jackson- Fitchett Drug Company of Duke township be relieved of 499.00, error
in listing.
Dr. J.P. Monroe of Barbecue township be relieved of 4132.15, same property
being listed twice.
D.C. Collins of Upper Little River township be relieved of 42.00 dog tax.
J.P. Gregory of Black River township be relived of 42.00 dog tax.
E.H. Gardner of Black River be relieved of 42.00 dog tax.
J.D. McNeill of Grove township be relieved of 42.00 dog tax.

district.
R.H. Wade, Administrator of W.F.-Wade, of Averasboro township, be relieved of
48.50 error in school district..

. That Erwin Holder of upper Little River township be relieved of 41.00 dog tax.
That Mrs. Alice E. McNeill of Ll,llington township be relieved of 458.40,

That H.B. Lynch of Hector's Creek township be relieved of 434.22,
tenant house in Oct. 1925- a reduction of 41500.00 on house.
That Betsy Ann Murchison of Lillington township be relieved of taxes
of 4485.00.

It is ordered that the County Commissioners execute and deliver to
its promissory note in the sum of 415,000.00 payable six
months from date, interest payable at rate of 44,80, said loan to be charged
to the-General Fund in anticipation of the oolleetion of taxes.
Whereas, the financing of the public roads and bridges in the county of
Harnett, North Carolina, is under the supervision and control of the County
Board of Commissioners of said County, and
Whereas, in the opinion of the County Board of Commissioners of Harnett
County, North Carolina, it has become necessary to build, re -build and repair
the public roads and bridges or public roads or bridges in Harnett County, and
the same cannot be done with the labor and funds at the command of the Commiss-
ioners or in their hands;
Now, Therefore, Be it resolved by the County Board 6f Commissioners -of
Harnett County, North Carolina, that the said Hoard be authorized to borrow on
the faith and credit of said County the sum of 415,000.00, for the purpose of
raising funds with which to defray the cost:; of re- building any roads arxd bridge
either or both, and the Chairman of this Board be authorized to execute a note
or notes dated 19 , payable to bearer,
signed by the chairman of the board and attested by the clerk to the board,
payable on the day of ,19 , and bearing interest at the
rate of 4.80 per cent per annum, and that such note or notes be delivered and
negotiated by the Chairman of the County Board of Commissioners for the purpose
aforesaid.
In witness whereof the said County Board of Commissioners of Harnett Coun
North Carolina, has caused its corporate name to be signed hereto by its Chair-
man and the corporate seal to be hereunto affixed -and attested by its Clerk,
