Wood be appointed Local Registrar for Anderson Creek Township, for Vital Mt/sties. It is ordered that Petition of I.R. Williams, Trustee, be accepted and filed. Petition as follows: "To the Honorable Board of Commissioners of The Petition of I.R. Williams, Trustee, respectfully shows: That he is trustee under a deed of trust executed by N.A. Bell and wife, Eva Bell, which deed of trust is recorded in the County of Harnett in Book 206, page 562, and which deed of trust conveys two lots of land situated in the Town of Dunn on South Broad Street, being known as the residence of N.A. Bell and situated near the Eastern edge of the old corporate Limits of the Town of Dunn. That under the power of sale the said I.R. Williams has foreclosed the said deed of trust and is now ready to execute a deed to Eva Bell, the last and highest bidder for said lands. That N.A. Bell has listed for taxation 15 lots as shown by the abstracts; that the tax value of all these lots is $13,600.00. That the tax value for the lot described in the deed of trust to I.R. Williams, trustee, which deed of trust has been foreclosed, is the value of $3,000.00; that there are unpaid taxes on the said lot for the year 1925 and some years prior thereto; that this trustee believes that it is fair and equitable that this trustee pay the taxes only on the lot which he has foreclosed. WHEREFORE This trustee does petition this Board of Commissioners to release the said lot described in the deed of trust to Z.R. Williams, trustee, recorded in Book 206, page 562, upon the payment by the said trustee of taxes on the said amount the said lots are valued at, to -wit: $3,000.00, for the years 1925, and any other years prior thereto during which the taxes have not been paid. Respectfully submitted, I.R. Williams, Trustee. NORTH CAROLINA, HARNETT COUNTY. BEFORE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, MONDAY, IIECEMBER 7th, 1925. Upon motion of J.G. Layton, seconded by B.P. Ingram, it is considered, ordered and adjudged that, upon the petition of I.R. Williams, Trustee, that the lots described in the deed of trust executed by N.A. Bell and wife, Eva Bell, recorded in Book 206, page 562, be released from taxation for the years 1925 and any prior year thereto during which the taxes are unpaid,upon the payment of any unpaid taxes on the said lot by the said I.R. Williams, trustee, said lot to be valued for the years during which the taxes are unpaid at the sum of $3,000.00, and the Tax Collector is hereby ordered to give the said I.R. Williams, Trustee, a sufficient receipt to release the said lot upon the payment by the said trustee of any back taxes on the said lot. G.K. Grantham, Chairman. ,/ COMMPENSATION OF TAX COLLECTOR. A resolution of the Board of Commissioners with respeot to compensation of tax collector. WHEREAS, at the October session of this Board the compensation of H.A. Turlington, Tax Collector, was fixed upon a commission basis upon the same terms as said compensation was fixed for the collection of the taxes for 1924 as will more fully appear by reference to the minutes of this Board and; Whereas since said date the acts of the General Assembly of 1925 having been published and distributed reveals an amendment to the act creating the office of tax collector by which his compensation is fixed upon a salary basis and expense account only, and; Whereas, it is deemed unwise and unjust to said tax collector to make the change from a commission basis to a salary basis at once. Therefore be it resolved by the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County that said Tax Collector be and he is hereby authorized to make his monthly settlements with the Board as heretofore deducting commissions allowed by said act of the Legislature prior to the amendment of 1925, but upon final settlement with said tax collector for the taxes of 1925 said final settlement shall be made upon the salary baba and expense account authorized in the act of the Legislator as amended by the Legislature of 1925 so that the compensation of the tax collector in- cluding his expense account to be allowed by the Board shall not exceed the compensation authorized by law nor shall the same exceed the commission authorized by this Board in its employment of said tax collector and in fixing his compensation at the October session of this Board. Resolved further that in the event that the said H.A. Turlington should desire to resign prior to one year from his employment and prior to final settlement for the taxes of 1925, that notice is hereby given that such resignation will not be accepted antill any over- payment of salary and expenses, as now authorized by law, if any, shall have been repaid to the Board by said H.A, Turlington. Approved G.E. Grantham, Chairman, ADDITION TO SCHOOL BUDGET: It is ordered that citizens living in and the Turlington It is ordered that Schools, if County an additional truck be purchased for the use of Grove Township and Neill's Creek between Buie's Creek and Parker Schools, an extra teacher be given to Bunnlevei and Mary Stewart Superintendent finds it necessary. It is ordered that Board of Education be authorized to install heating plant in Teacherage at Lillington High School, PAUPER ALLOWANCES It is ordered that $18.50 per month be allowed R.A. Griffin for the care and support of Mrs. Harriett Coats. It is ordered that Maggie Day receive $1.00 per day for expenses at Watts Hospital, not exceeding one month. rliss Beck to make further investigation and repart to Board. It is ordered that Bob Merritt be allowed $45.00 for one month expenses at Sanatorium. Miss Beck to make further investigation and report to Board It is ordered that the monthly allowance to Mrs. Annie Strickland Riddle be raised from $10.00 per month to $20.00 per month. INCREASE IN SALARIES: It is ordered that Sheriff's Salary be increased to $3,300.00 per year. It is ordered that S.B. Caviness be allowed $25.00 additional per month for. use of car. It is ordered to increase the board of prisoners to 65 cents per day, and $20.00 per month for keeping jail. REFUND OF SPECIAL SCHOOL TAX: It is ordered that the County; Auditor be authorized to issue rebates to residents of School District No.83 in U.L.River Township for five cents on $100.00 valuation, to cover overcharge and error in making levy, for special school tax. RECOtNDATION OF PARDON: It is ordered that the Resolution recommending the pardon of R.B. Reaves, endorsed by County Commissioners, County Attorney, and Welfare Officer, be accepted and filed. It is ordered that resignation of R.A. Edge be accepted and filed, the same to be effective January 1, 192. PAYMENT OF BOND AND INTEREST: It is ordered that the Board of Education pay $1025.00 for Bond and interest which is now due Bank of Lillington, being a bond issued by Lillington High School District, APPOINTMENT OF COMMITTEE: • It is ordered that a Committee be appointed to confer with Hoke, Cumberland and Lee County Commissioners with reference to establishing a joint Tubercular Hospital, said Committee composed of M.T. Spears, J.G. Layton and E.F. Young, REPORTS OF COUNTY OFFICERS: It is ordered that report from S.B. Caviness, Supt. of Convict Camp, be accepted and filed, and that all bills attached, to the amount of $831.23, be paid. It is ordered that report from H.A. Turlington, Tax Collector, be accepted and filed, which Report shows total amount collected since last report of $148,323.24, and the commissions on same being $2,529.33. It is ordered that report from Clerk of Superior Court be accepted and filed, and that checks attached for $418.00 and 0185.50 be turned over to County Auditor. It is ordered that report from J.P. Parker, Supt. County Home, be accepted and filed, and that all bills attached to the amount of $243.66 be paid. RELEASES: It is ordered that A.J. Wester be relieves of $1.56 school tax in Hector's Creek Township. It is ordered that J.L. Rosser be relieved of 02.90 poll tax in Barbecue Township, paid in U.L.R. It is ordered that J.H. McAllister be relieved of $30.14 in Neill's Creek Township, on building which has been sold, valued at $2200/90. It is ordered that firs. Caroline Godwin be relieved of 015.75 in Averas- boro Township. This reduction made by Commissioners in 1924. It is ordered that L.D. Burwell estate be relieved of $283.10 clerical error in valuation. ,(After listed correctly.) It is ordered that Mrs. M.M. Jones be relieved of $129.87 school tax in Black River Township, $14,430.00 valuation in District No.34. It is ordered that Rex Johnson be relieved of $27.40 in Neill's Creek Township- failure to deduct solvent credits. It is ordered that Mrs. H.M. Pittman be relieved of $8.75 in Averasboro Township- deduction made by County Commissioners in 1924. It is ordered that I.L. McNeill & Company be relieved of 08.28 in Barbecue Township- error in listing. It is ordered that J.R. Pate be relieved of $15.62 in Black River Township, error in rate of school district. It is ordered that A.L. Johnson be relieved of $21.32 school tax in Neill's Creek township- property not in special school district. It is ordered that Alonzo Johnson be relieved of $23.82 special school tax in Neill's Creek Township- property not in school district. It is ordered that Charlie H. Bailey be relieved of 01.00 dog tax in Lillington township. It is ordered that Anson Bailey be relieved of $1.00 dog tax in Lillington township. It is ordered that A.W. HARNETT COUNTY. To The Honorable Board of County Commissioners of Harnett County At a meeting of the Harnett County Road Commission held in Lillingtop, on November 16, 1925, a resolution was passed by said board asking the County Commissioners of Harnett County to provide funds in the sum of Twenty Five Thousand Dollars, to enable said board to begin new construction and improvement of a system of highways for, the county. Pursuant to said resolution the Harnett County Road Commission is hereby formally asking the Board of County Commissioners to provide funds for said purpose, in the amount of Twenty Five Thousand 125,000.00) Dollars, and place the same to the credit of the Road Commissioners of Harnett County.
