1925.
The County Commissioners met in regular season on Monday Sept. 7th,
1925; all members of Board being present, with Mr. M.T. Spears,
County Attorney.
Minutes of last meeting read and approved.
It is ordered that report from E.F. Yo be accepted and filed,
and that check attached to the amount of $1192.41 be turned over to
County Auditor.

It is ordered that Dunn Battery National Guard be continued and
allowance of $50.00 per month be paid.
It is ordered that 1923 tax receipt be given J.H. Pope estate upon
payment of oost to the amount of 08.85. (Receipts returned to E.F.
Young for collection.)
It is ordered that Mrs. C.R. Vinson pay oost due on 1921 taxes in
Averaeboro township. Upon payment of cost the receipt will be
delivered.
It is ordered that report from Clerk of Court be accepted and filed;
and that the two checks attached, one for $92.70 and one for $33.25,
be turned over to the County Auditor; that bill of cost etc. amount-
ing to $53.50 and Juvenile salary etc. for $34.34 be paid to the
Clerk of Court.
It is ordered that a special school tax election be called, in Neill's
Creek Township.
It is ordered that Colton Brown be appointed as Registrar, anAias
Poll Holders Harvey McLeod and J.D. Campbell. Place of election
Cape Fear School House. Time of election Oct. 17, 1925. Resolution

NORTH CAROLINA, RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
HARNETT COUNTY. OF HARNETT COUNTY CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION IN
HARNETT COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT N0. 73.
WHEREAS, there has been presented to this board at its regular
meeting on the First Monday in September, 1925, a petition signed by
more than twenty -five qualified voters of said district who have resided
within said district for a period of twelve months or more, petitioning
this board to pall an election in said district for the purpose of sub-
mitting to the qualified voters thereof the question of levying a special
looal tax in said district of fifty cents on the one hundred dollars of
property valuation for the purpose of supplementing the funds for the
six months public sohool term of said district; and,.
WHEREAS, said petition has been duly presented to the board of
education of Harnett County, received due consideration by that body
and is now before this board duly endorsed by the chairman and Secretary
of the said The Board of Education of Harnett County, as by law provided:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF, COMMISSIONERS OF
HARNETT COUNTY IN REGULAR SESSION ON THE FIRST MONDAY IN SEPTEMBER, A.D.
1925:
1. That an election be had in said School District No. 73 of
Harnett County on the 20th day of October, 1925, for the purpose of
submitting to the qualified voters thereof the question of levying a
special local tax in said district of 50 cents on the $100.00 of property
valuation for the purpose of supplementing the funds for the six months
sohool term of said district. The boundaries of the said district No. 73
in whioh the election is to be held are as follows:
Beginning at a stake on the bank of Neill's Creek, Charlie
Johnson's northwest oorner, and runs with hie north line in a easterly
direction to E.B. Johnson's corner; thence with E.B. Johnson's north
line in an easterly direction to his corner; thence with said E.B.
Johnson's east line in a southerly direction to M.E. Wilder's corner;
thenoe with M.E. Wilder's north line in an easterly direction to J. =.
Wilder's north line; thence with said Wilder's north line in an easterly
direction to his corner; thence as Wilder's east line in a southerly
direction to J.B. Barnes line; thence as Barnes line in an easterly
direction to Dry Creek; thence down said creek to State Highway No. 60;
thence with the said highway in an easterly direction to Buie's Creek;
thenoe up Buie's Creek to Dr. J.A. Sexton's line; thence as Sexton's
line in an easterly direction to T.L. Reardon's line; thence as said
Reardon's line in a northerly direction to a line of the Tom Long
Estate; thenoe with the line of said estate in an easterly direction
to W.A. Green's southwest corner; thence as Green's line in an easterly
direction to Middle Prong Creek; thence up said creek to. the "road that
runs from John Parrish's to Ji$t Betts; thence with said road in a
westerly direction to a line of the Martin Matthews estate; thence
with a line of said estate in a northerly direction to John Parrish's east
line; thence with said line in a northerly direction to G.F. Jones line;
thence with said Jones line in a northerly direction to his north corner;
thence with said Jones north line in a westerly direction to Ben Matthews estate;
thence with the east line of said estate in a northerly direction to a oorne
of said estate; thence as another line of said estate in a westerly directio
to Benton Matthews north line; thence with Benton Matthews line in a wester
direction to Bright Matthews north line; thence with the line to David
Matthews north line; thence with David Matthews north line in a westerly
direction to- JO. _Campbell's north line; thence as his north line westwardly
to Woodall's north line; Thence as hi„ line to the run of Neill's Creek;
Thence as the run of Neill's Creek to the beginning.
2. That there be a hew registration of the voters in said district above
described, and that a notice of said registration be published in some
newspaper having a circulation din said district at least 30 days before the close
of the registration books.
3. That notice of said election be published in some newspaper having a ci culation
in said district at least thirty days prior to said election.
4. That those desiring to vote for the special tax shall vote a ticket upon hich shall
be printed or written the words "FOR LOCAL TAX" and those desiring to vote as'inst the
special tax shall vote a ticket upon which be printed the words a AGAINST Li AL TAX"

5. That Colton Brown be, and is herby appointed Registrar for said election, and
Harvey McLeod and J.D. Campbell are hereby appointed as Poll Holders for said election.
6. That the election shall be held at the Cape Fear School in said district.

TO THE HONORABLE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF HARNETT COUNTY AND THE HONORABLE
BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF HARNETT COUNTY.
We, the undersigned qualified voters of Harnett County School
District No, 73, having resided within said district for a period of twelve
months or more, respectfully request that an election be called in said

question of voting a special tax of fifty (50) cents on the one hundred
dollars of property valuation in said district for the purpose of supple-
menting the funds for the six months public school term for said district.

It is ordered that contract from Forest Fire protection be adopted and
signed. and that bill attached for $22.09 be paid.
It is ordered that J.A. Tyndall be allowed $1.00 per day at N.C.
Sanatorium, and that bill attached for $65.18 be paid, June let, to Aug. lst.
The Board of Commissioners authorized the Board of Education to borrow
$1500.00 for Cambro School, the same to be paid from local tax funds
belonging to said district.
It is ordered that no increase be made in the appropriation for Home
Demonstration work.
It is ordered that Miss Sadie Louise Hatcher of Buie's Creek, N.C. be
elected as Welfare Worker for the County at $125.00 per month.
It is ordered that the two Boards enter into joint contract with State
Board of Health for a Health Nurse for County for three months, to
continue or discontinue as Board sees fit, the Chairman of each board
named as a committee to get the work in operation.
It is ordered that the plans and Supt. at County Home be changed for the
coming year.
It is ordered that P.B. Norris be relieved of Poll Tax for the year 1925.
It is ordered that the case of M.M. Johnson and wife in Neill's Creek
township be referred to Miss Hatcher, Welfare Officer, to make investi-
gation.
It is ordered that door be cut in Auditor's office and shelves be put in
for books.

WHEREAS, the Road Cpmmissioners of Averasboro Township on Aug.
28, 1925, executed its note to The Central National Bank of Richmond, Va.
payable four months after date in the sum of $5000.00 in anticipation of
the collection of special road taxes of said township; and whereas, said
note was endorsed and payment thereof guaranteed by this Board, through
its Chairman:
THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Commissioners of
Harnett County that said act of the Chairman be approved and that a sufficient
part of said speoial road taxes of said township, when collected, be applied
by this Board to discharge said note in full.

Minutes of Sept. Meeting Continued.
Whereas, the Board of Commissioners have heretofore employed the firm
of Goodno And Steele, Certified Public Accountants, to make an audit of
the liability of J.W. McArtan, ex- sheriff of Harnett County on account
of 1923 tax levy; and
Whereas, Goodno and Steele, Certified Public Accountants, have submitted
to this Board a report in detail; and
Whereas, said report shows that the said J.W. McArtan, ex- sheriff, is due
the County of Harnett on account of 1923 tax levy the sum of $56,453.62;
NOW, THEREFORE, it is ordered by the Board that the said report be
accepted, approved and filed with the Clerk of this Board.
