County Commissioners met in regular session August 3, 1925. All members of
Board being present, with M.T. Spears, County Attorney, present with them.
Minutes of last meeting read and approved, with corrections.
It is ordered that the election of Geo. M. Floyd for cotton weigher in Dunn
be approved.
It is ordered that report from Clerk of Court be accepted and filed, and that
checks attached for 0332.50 and 0107.70 be turned over to County Auditor; that
costs ets. in the amount of $36.90 be paid bilerk of Superior Court.
It is ordered that report from Miss Bridge be accepted and filed.
It is ordered that report from J.P. Parker be accepted and filed; and that all
bills attached to the amount of $182.97 be paid.
It is ordered that report of E.F. Young be accepted and filed; and that check
attached for $'663.05 be turned over to County Auditor. 9/��
It is ordered that four phones be uses in courthouse- in clerk's office, Lh s
Register of Deeds office and Board of education; and that all other phones e
discontinued.
It is ordered that report from H.A. Edge, Farm Demonstrator, be accepted and
filed.
It is ordered that a Committee be appointed, composed of B.P. Ingram and J.A.
Buchanan, to investigate the efficiency of ferryman at Northington's Ferry.
It is ordered that Reubin Stewart be appointed Registrar of Vital Statistics
in Grove Township.
It is ordered that report of land sales to County Auditor and deposited to Co 'ty
Funds be accepted and filed, to the amount of $407.27.
It is ordered that report from S.B. Cavinese, Supt. of Convict Camp, be
accepted and filed, and that bills attached thereto to the amount of $647.75
be paid.
It is ordered that final report of H.A. Turlington, Tax Collector, which has
been approved by G.E. Grantham and J.A. Hockaday, Committee for the Board, be
accepted as final settlement for collection of 1924 taxes by said H.A. Turling on.

It is ordered that the Farm Demonstration Agent be retained in Harnett County,
and that H.A. Edge be employed as such Agent at the same salary.
It is ordered that the Home Demonstration work be continued in County, and
that Mise Elizabeth Bridge be employed.
It is ordered that the application of Mrs. Annie Strickland Riddle for Mothers
Aid, be approved and that she be allowed 010.00 per month.
It is prdered that the colored farm demonstration work be continued in the
County at same salary.
It is ordered that voucher be issued to Eyer & Company for $562.50 for interest
due on 050,000.00 note which matures August 7, which note is to be paid by two
renewal notes of $25,000.00 each.
Resolution.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COM.SISSIONERS, That one note of County of Harnet
be executed in the sum of $25,000.00 dated August 3, 1925, maturing November 3,
1925, and bearing interest 5% from August 7, 1925. Interest payable to,BEARER
at Chase National Bank of the City of New York, New York, in anticipation of
collection of taxes and that said note be sold or hypothecated by the Auditor
of Harnett County and the proceeds thereof turned into the general fund of said
county. Be it further resolved: That the full faith and credit of County of
Harnett be pledged to the punctual payment of the principal and interest of sai
note at maturity.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, That one note of County of Harnet

1925, and bearing interest 5% from August 7, 1925. Interest payable at maturit

City of New York, .New York, in anticipation of collection of taxes, and that
said note be sold or hypothecated by the Auditor of Harnett County and the pro-

NORTH CAROLINA, 1 RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS CALLING A
HARNETT COUNTY. 1 SPECIAL ELECTION FOR THE ENLARGEMENT OF HARNETT COUNTY
SCHOOL DISTRICT- T0.71,
Whereas, there has been presented to this Board at its regular
meeting on the first Monday in August, 1925, a petition duly signed by the
governing 'Board of Harnett County School District No.71, (formerly known as
the Lillington High School District), requesting that an election be had in
the following described new territory, which territory is adjoining the said
Harnett County School District No.710 for the purpose of submitting to the
qualified voters thereof the question of annexing said territory to said Herne
County School District No.71, and 'of levying therein a local tax of the same
rate as that voted in said district No,71. The said new territory being des-
cribed by metes and bounds as follows:
Beginning at the mouth of Neill's Creek, and running thence up
various courses of said creek to the northeast corner of Alonzo Johnson's land
where his land adjoins the John Johnson estate; thence as Alonzo Johnson's lin
to a corner of the licKinnie estate and Blalock's land; thence as their line to
a stake in E.B. Johnson's line, thence in an easterly direction with E.B. Johnson's
line to a corner of the Robert Johnson estate and E.B. Johnson; thence with th line
of the Robert Johnson estate in an easterly direction to the Lillington - Angier
Road; thence as the said road in the direction of Lillington to a stake in
I.T.E. Wilder's line ; thence as his line in an easterly direction to a stake in
K. Murchison's northwest land line; thence as his line to J.L.'Wilder's corner
on the northwest side of his residence; thence as his line in an easterly
direction to his corner with John Green and Raymond Wilder's thence northwardl
with Raym nd Wilder's line to a corner with A.G. Wilder; thence East with A.G.
Wilder's ,�ine to his corner with Ernest Brown; thence South to the Lillington
Smithfield Road; thence with said road in a southwest direction to B.H. Sellers
northeast corner; thence South as Sellers line to a stake in the north line of
J.B. Barnes land; thence as Barnes line to Dry Creek; thence as Dry Creek to
Cape Fear River; thence as Cape Pear River to the beginning.
And Whereas, said petition has been duly presented to the Board
Education of Harnett County, received due consideration and approval by that bo
and is now before this Board upon the endorsement of the Chairman and Secretary
of said Board of Education as by law provided:
Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Board of Commissioners of
Harnett County in regular session on the first Monday in August, 1925,: (1)
that an election be had in the territory above described on the 8th day of
September, 1925, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters there th
question of annexing the said territory to Harnett County School District No.71
(formerly Lillington High School District), and of the levying of a local tax i
said territory of the same rate as that voted in said Harnett County School Dis
No.71; (2) That there shall be a new registration of the voters in said new
territory, and that notice of said registration and election be published in so
newspaper circulating in said territory at least thirty days before said regis-
tration books close and before the election. (3) That those desiring to vote
for the annexation of said new territory and of the levying in the same a local
tax of the same rate as that voted in Harnett County School District No.71, sha
vote a ticket upon which shall be printed or written the words "FOR LOCAL TAX"
and those opposing shall vote a ticket upon which shall be printed or written t
words "AGAINST LOCAL TAX"; (4) That C.P. Kelly be and he is hereby appointed
Registrar, and Dallas Johnson and E.B. Johnson be and they are hereby appointed
Poll Holders for said election; (5) that the election shall be held at the
home of M.O. Wilbourn in said district.

HARNETT COUNTY. SCHOOL DISTRICT.
TO THE HONORABLE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF HARNETT COUNTY'
We, the undersigned members of the Governing Board of Harnett County
School District No. 71 (formerly Lillington High School District), respect-
fully petition your Honorable Board that an election be had in the territory
hereinafter described for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters
thereof the question of annexing said territory to Harnett County School
District No. 71 (formerly Lillington High School District), and of the levying
in said new territory of a local tax of the same rate as that voted in said
Harnett County School District No. 71 above referred to.
The boundaries of the territory in which we request the election are
as follows:
Beginning at the mouth of Neill's Creek, and running thence up the
various courses of said creek to the northeast corner of Alonzo Johnson's

High School District (now Harnett County School Distriet:No. 71), respectfully
petition your Honorable Board that an election be had in "tte-territory here-
inafter described for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters thereo
the question of the enlargement of the said Lillington High School District
so as to include the territory hereinafter described and of the levying of a
local tax in said territory of the same rate as that voted in the said
Lillington High School District.
The boundaries of the territory in which we request the election are
as follows:
Beginning at E.B. Reid's lower land line on the bank of Upper Little
River, it being the Southeast corner of the Lillington High School District,
and runs along the various courses of said river to the Cape Fear River;
thence up the various courses of the Cape Fear River to the Eastern boundary
line of the said Lillington High School District; thence as said eastern
boundary line, in a southerly direction, to the beginning.

HARNETT COUNTY. A SPECIAL ELECTION FOR THE ENLARGEMENT OF LILLINGTON

Whereas, there has been presented to this Board at its regular
meeting on the First Monday in August, 1925, a petition duly signed by the
governing board of the Lillington High School District (now Harnett County
School District No. 71), requesting that an election be had in the following
described territory for the purpose of annexing said territory to the said
Lillington High School Districts and of levying in said new territory a local
tax of the same rate as that voted in said Lillington High School District.
The said new territory being described bt metes and bounds as follows:
Beginning at E.B. Reid's lower land line on the bank of Upper

1. That an election be had in said territory above described on
the 8th day of September, 1925, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified'
voters thereof the question of annexing the above described territory to the
said Lillington High School District(now Harnett County School District No.71),
and of the levying in said new territory a local tax of the same rate as that
voted in said high school district;
2. That there shall be a new registration of the voters in new

be published in some newspaper circulating in said territory at least thirty
days before the close of ,_said registration books, and said election;

above described and of the levying 'therein of a local tax of the same rate as

District No.71), shall vote a ticket pon which shall be written or printed th=

be written or printed the words "AGAINS LOCAL TAX ";
4. That S.D. Brantley be, land he is hereby appointed Registrar
for said election; and John Withers and ISougald Bain be, and they are hereby

5. That said election shall be held at the school house in said
territory.

be re- elected as Home Demonstration Agent for Harnett County.

$1000.00 to cover payment on site of Angier High School.

Resolution.

thereof turned into the general fund of said county.

RESOLUTION..
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COriiMISSIONERS, That one (1) note of County of
Harnett be executed in the sum of $10,000 dated August 25, 1925, maturing
December 1 $ and bearing interest at 5% from 9/1/25, interest payable at
maturity. Both interest and principal payable to BEARER at Chase National Bank
of the City of New York, New York. In anticipation of collection of taxes for
year 1925,;_ and that said note be sold or hypothecated by the Auditor of Harnett
County and the proceeds thereof turned into the general fund of said county.
Be it further resolved: That the full faith and credit of County. of Harnett
be pledged to the punctual payment of the principal and interest of said note
at maturity.
